You should be well into your books by now. The books you have selected are targeted to your Lexile scores. Please think about your reading process. How do you feel about targeted reading? Is your book challenging or do you find your book easy to read? If it is challenging, how is it challenging: is the vocabulary new? are the sentences long? is the time period (if you are reading a novel) different and difficult to imagine?

Protest poetry is the poetry of alienation.  Choose one poem in your handout, Protest Poetry, and identify what condition or event the poet was alienated from.  Be sure to use examples from the poem to support your claim.
