# Measuring All Around Us!

Students went on a measurement hunt to find the length of customary and metric measurements. They measured the height, width, and length of objects throughout the classroom and in the foyer. Students measured in inches, centimeter, feet, yards, and meters!! Then they shared things they noticed and learned. Here’s what a few had to say..

I learned that the USA is the only country that uses customary units to measure because I think we like being different. Buddy

I noticed that centimeters are metric because I thought centimeters were customary. Xian

I notice that in our class, it was hard to measure things less than one inch, in feet, and in meters. this task was hard because when Paige and I measured the objects. It was either too long or too short. Cherelle

I learned that the top number of a fraction is a numerator and the bottom number is a denominator because on my fraction chart the numerator increased every time I added 1 to the fraction number. Kahuwai

I noticed that for the feet and up a lot more people were outside because there are bigger objects. Mia

I learned that different countries use different units of measurement because there is a metric and customary system. Jenny
