As we dive into our service learning project, we are reading and noticing the many ways kids have identified issues or areas of concern in their communities, state, and the world. From our readings, we notice HOW kids are “taking action”. For example, kids are giving donations, helping out in many ways, or proposed ideas and solutions to the president. Their plans of action are making a powerful difference and bring positive change. In conclusion, we are learning that no matter how old or young or big or small, kids can make difference.
Thanks to Paige! A local news article was shared with the class about a wonderful initiative or opportunity to take action and influence change in our Hawaiian culture. This will make a positive change because it will atract other Hawaiians to read the news paper and help other problems all around the world. It also make other people keep up with events all around the state. Lastly, it will help people learn the new laws that there making. Its important for people to volunteer because not a lot of people know the Hawaiian language well. We also need them because our economy is really bad. Lastly, we dont have enough money to pay over 1,000 moer people.

The first question that you answered was similar to my answer that I put.
During the past few days we were able to read an article about people trying to create an Hawaiian newspaper. I think this will make a big chane because the native Hawaiian people get to read their languige. This will also make a change because the people who can only read Hawaiian language will finally get to know what is going on in the world. Also it’s important because so us people of Hawaii know and try to understand the Hawaiian language.
This goal is a very high goal and to pay about 2.1million dollars for a Hawaiian language newspaper so that’s why it’s important to have volunteers so we don’t need to pay so much. Its important to have volunteers because not many people can read Hawaiian language, and now they could. One last reasons why we néed volunteers to do this job is because it would take a long time. It would take as long as 3 hours to only do 1 page. If people do create this Online Hawaiian Newspaper it would be a great blessing to us native Hawaiians.

Because we are learning about our ancestors in Hawaiian studies it is interesting to learn from the newspaper articles about hawaii in the late 1800′s. My personal connection to how our ancestors voyaged here, is that my greatgrandfather, Abraham Pi’ianai’a, was present when they cut down th tree in Alaska for th canoe Hawai’i Loa.

I think that being able to view Hawaiian language newspaper will make a positive impact. One of the ways it will an impact is everyone will easily view it. It might take awhile but I think with the help of volunteer typists the people will get it done in no time. Without the volunteer typists I don’t think that they could pull it off.
