From our reading on plants, we learned that plants are very old. In fact they are 420 million years old. That’s older than our Hawaiian Islands, which are 1-5 million years old!! I posed a question to you yesterday. I asked you to suggest or imply 3 ways that plant, and even animals, may have arrived in our Hawaiian Islands without the help of humans.
Here’s your task:
1. Select one of your suggestions and post it in the comment box.

I think that since the ocean came first and the sea creatures and plant had children that were on land had to grow until able to go on there own.
Really cool, I think I can agree with you. Awesome thinking!!!!!! I don’t think I would have ever thought of that. Your thinking has gone very deep, deeper than mine.
Great idea. I agree with you. Great thinking!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool!I agree with you.
I like it! It is very nice!
I think that wind brought seeds so plants grew.
Smart. That could happen.
That was one of my ideas. But iI didn’t use it.
In the Kumulipo the plants were born because the plants grew at the bottom of the sea but the coral was born first and the plants on land came second.
I agree with you kahuwai
I infer that the birds flew over here and stayed here.
I think that the birds flew here with seeds stuck on them. when the birds saw this place they landed and lived here. The seeds came off and then the grew here
I agree! Travis you have one of mine!
I think coconut trees floated in the water. I also think that birds carried seeds here. Maybe even animals swam and plants got stuck on their foot when they were swimming.
nice! That is very good. I like that idea.
I think when the oceans waves cary the seeds and animals swam. I think this because the waves can cary things very far.
I think that is a good thinking Leiloa.
I think the plants came from the 5 W’s. The wind could have lifted seeds to come to our islands.
Thats a smart idea.
I believe that the pioneers brought over the plants and animals. I believe this because the seeds probably got stuck on there shoes and maybe they brought animals for food.
That could happen. What about plants?
There were no humans.
the plants came by current because the current pulls or pushes the seed then the seed washes up on the shore and grows.
It think the plants grew in the water and they washed up on shore.
Like coconuts and more
that is a good suggestion Davin!
I think the animals arrived in our hawaiian islands by the hawaiians. This suggestion might be correct because when the hawaiians needed food, they would eat the animals, And the hawaiians were here first.
Wow! I was thinking that too for one of my suggestions.
They will floote in the water like a coco nut.
The wind carry the seed to where the wind stops. After it grow it multiplies.
What about the animals?
I never think of that Jenny! that is good thinking
Birds.
These suggestions are correct because at imiloa astronomy center a worker told me that birds had seeds stuck in there feathers & they flew here.
maybe the ocean made a plant and like a chain the plant had its child and so on then after all the plants were mad e the plants gave birth to the animals.
I think fish went on land and it made moss.
I think plants got hereby sea. They also could have gotten here because birds brought them.Other plants could have brought them.
i infer that the plants were on the the other islands that got drowned by the waves in the scientific theory. The plants might have been on those kupuna islands.
It floated over the water. I think this is right because I saw it on the science channel.
Me to!!!Cool!!!
I think birds brought the seeds for the plant to grow.
I think that is right Chris!
Why arent animals involved.
One explanation is that the water carried it there.
