Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus 1:1 Project<\/h5>\n

<\/a>Vendor Demonstrations<\/h3>\n

<\/a>Schedule<\/h4>\n

Apple and Dell will be on campus\u00a0Nov 14 and 15\u00a0as part of the evaluation process of potential devices for the 1:1 Project. There will be five sessions held on both days with each session lasting approximately 80 minutes.<\/p>\n

The session times will be as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. 8:00-9:12a<\/li>\n
  2. 9:46-11:06a<\/li>\n
  3. 12:13-1:33p<\/li>\n
  4. 1:40-3:00p<\/li>\n
  5. 3:10-4:30p<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/a>Participants<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. All High School\u00a0faculty\u00a0(50)<\/li>\n
    2. High School\u00a0students\u00a0from leadership groups (20)<\/li>\n
    3. Select\u00a0staff\u00a0(10)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      <\/a>Setup<\/h4>\n
        \n
      1. Vendors will be located in separate rooms.<\/li>\n
      2. Each room will be equipped with a projector.<\/li>\n
      3. An ITRT will be available in each room to assist the vendor.<\/li>\n
      4. Lunch for the vendors will be provided on both days.<\/li>\n
      5. Devices will be setup with wireless access and pre-installed with MS Office Suite.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        <\/a>Vendor\u00a0Guidelines<\/h4>\n
          \n
        1. The beginning 15-20 minutes of each session is reserved for a presentation by the vendor.<\/li>\n
        2. The remaining time should be spent on Q&A and platform\/device demonstrations.<\/li>\n
        3. Format of the demonstrations is up to the discretion of the vendor.<\/li>\n
        4. Vendors are only allowed to demonstrate devices that have been given prior approval (see next section for list of approved devices).<\/li>\n
        5. Vendors are not allowed to present or engage participants outside the designated session times.<\/li>\n
        6. Giveaways are not permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          <\/a>Approved Devices<\/h4>\n

          The following is a list of approved devices that can be shown during the demonstrations:<\/p>\n

          Apple<\/p>\n

          4. iPad<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            3. Latitude ST<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              <\/a>Participant Instructions<\/h4>\n

              The purpose of the vendor demonstrations is to provide faculty, students, and staff the opportunity to learn as much as possible about the vendors, their approach, their platforms, and their devices. Participants will be asked to score\u00a0each device\u00a0based on two criteria: Education Fit and User Experience.<\/p>\n

              Some questions you might consider as you review the platforms and devices:<\/p>\n

              Education Fit (for Teachers)<\/p>\n

                \n
              1. How well does the platform meet your needs to integrate technology into your curriculum and reach your program goals?<\/li>\n
              2. What are the unique capabilities of each platform that could improve student learning and enhance the school\u2019s project-based learning objectives?<\/li>\n
              3. How well does the platform allow you to implement different learning strategies? Does any platform allow you to better individualize curriculum for a particular student?<\/li>\n
              4. Does the platform allow you to develop the instructional material you need for your class?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Education Fit (for Students)<\/p>\n

                  \n
                1. If students were assigned projects requiring them to communicate through multimedia (audio, video, animation, etc.), are there advantages to a particular platform to produce this content?<\/li>\n
                2. Consuming content for research and study is an important task students will need to perform. Does a platform offer a unique advantage in terms of collecting, organizing, and analyzing information?<\/li>\n
                3. Students will also be asked to collaborate with one another and with their teachers. How well does each platform allow you to do this?<\/li>\n
                4. One of the benefits this project hopes to achieve is for students to become more engaged and involved in their learning and to allow them to produce better quality work. Would any of the platforms or devices help the project better achieve this objective?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  User Experience (for Teachers and Students)<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  1. When scoring User Experience, base your score on your own personal interaction with the device and how it meets your requirements as a teacher or a student.<\/li>\n
                  2. Since teachers and students may differ in terms of the specifications and experience they want in a device, a final User Experience score will be calculated separately for each group.<\/li>\n
                  3. Does the device provide an interface (operating system and software) that you will be able to easily adopt?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n
                    1. How well does the device characteristics and performance (such as device size, weight, screen size, keyboard, battery life) suit your needs as a teacher or student?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      <\/a>Scoring<\/h4>\n

                      Participants are required to attend both vendor sessions before scoring.\u00a0Sign-in sheets will be available up to 10 minutes after the start of the session. Scoring will be done for each device on a 1 to 5 scale (5 = Best, 1 = Worst). Scoring sheets will be distributed on Wednesday, Nov 16.<\/p>\n
