As I was replying to your comments for last week’s blog, I started to think about those of you who have NOT responded yet and those of you who forgot your January goals. I remembered seeing some really great motivational speech videos so I selected one for all of you to view.
We are ALL guilty of coming up with excuses why we didn’t do this or that, fulfill our kuleana, put effort into our work, and the list goes on. I think that watching this video called “No Excuses” will make us work hard to achieve our goals, whether they be school goals or personal goals.
Please watch this video. You’ll have to copy the url to watch it. Then, respond with a minimum of three to five great sentences telling me what you thought of the video..

I couldn’t open the video because it says to download it on Youtube. The video says that an error occurred.

See if anything happens when you copy and paste the URL. Otherwise type the URL in. One of those should work. =)

The video still doesn’t work.

Wow, that basketball player was just full of weird excuses and I was just speechless when it ended. He actually made me think… What’s the use of making up excuses if it is not true. Why can’t I just do it, what was standing in the way of me getting it done? This really motivated me and I might keep thinking of this video when I do homework or classwork. What is really so hard about doing work and if you think about homework, you have a lot of time at home and sometimes even if you have “plans” after school, you still have about 50 minutes for homework.

Just Do It! Why can’t you? What stopped you? If the person making up the excuses can’t answer these questions, why bother making excuses?

I’m really looking fordward to watching this video, but no matter what I try to do, this pops up:
“The video you have requested is not available.
If you have recently uploaded this video, you may need to wait a few minutes for the video to process.
Sorry about that.”
I’m not too sure what to do…

Hi Ho’onani – Please ask Saesha to tell you how she accessed the video and respond to it after you view it. Miss you ….

HI Saesha – It looks like you are the only one that has been successful in viewing the video. I emailed Mrs. Koehler to ask you to share what you did in order to access the video.
You are so pololei about stopping the excuses. After I viewed the video, I had similar thoughts that you did. Even adults make excuses why they can’t do this or that. Just like you and Nike said, Just Do It!!

That was kind of strange. (Not the video but the basketball player making up those excuses.) We choose to make those excuses, it isn’t somebody else’s problem. If we make those excuses, it will just hurt us all in the long-run. It may also effect the people around us. We should do our responsibilities!

After I saw this video, I was kinda annoyed because this basketball player was making all of these excuses. I was annoyed until I saw him at the end.

That was a good video and a good message. The guy really makes you think “man this guy must be running around all day ” But really he just a normal guy with all this stuff that he lays off. Then he goes away and you realize hey that guys in a wheel chair. It just. Lea me away seeing how good a player he was and what he did in that video. The video really got
me up and thinking what i could do to achieve my goal. In fact I started studying for our spelling test but then remembered the blog. I’ve gotten all the words down but just hope I ace the test. Miss you Mrs. Pai.

HI Mahina,
I hope you tried again ’cause Saesha and others were able to view it. I will be coming in tomorrow. Hope to see you guys. Miss you =(

Yes, I agree with you. Whatever is our kuleana needs to get done. It is easy to make excuses or blame others but it’s not pono.
February 29th, 2012 at 10:01 pm
I don’t think you “got it.” The point was to stop making excuses why you didn’t do your work or didn’t do well on a project. It’s all up to you and you alone.
February 29th, 2012 at 10:02 pm
I hope you tried over – have Saesha show you how.

Hi Eve,
You got the message, Eve. You I don’t worry about. You are very dependable and I rarely got anything but great work from you. =)

Hi Kaori,
At one time or another, we’ve all made excuses. However, most people don’t continuously make up excuses. they figure it out and start doing it. Just like Nike says, “Just Do It.”

I was able to watch the video…:)I think that making excuses isn’t the right thing to do. If you keep making excuses you won’t get anywhere in life. That basketball player was full of excuses. You should just do it

Wow! This video made me speechless! The basketball player just had excuses. He had some that weren’t even true. Why waste time making excuses just do it. You can get way farther in life without excuses. Now it will make me see what I’m capable of!✌

Sometimes videos like this one are needed to give us a nudge to do the right thing. I’m glad that it made you think about your own situation. Bravo!!
March 2nd, 2012 at 9:02 pm
I bet you can think of kids in our class who make excuses a lot. Even adults make excuses – they are counter-productive and don’t make anyone feel good at all. Like Nike says, Just Do It!

Ask Saesha to help you.
