AWESOME ENTREPRENEURS EARN $940

Last Friday, keiki from 5A gave their 3-minute presentations on their team’s marketing adventure. They had three days to be innovative and raise monies that they ended up keeping, including the $5 start-up money that I provided. I was literally blown away at their ability to make so much money in so little time. Some of them made greeting cards, others sold candy or baked goods to their ‘ohana and neighbors, while others washed their ‘ohana’s cars. One enterprising young lady decided to make Party Mix for her ‘ohana and took pre-orders.
Lessons Learned: It’s not easy to make money. Pricing a product is hard – it can’t be too expensive or too cheap. You want to make a profit but you want your customer to feel like they got a good deal too. Finding the right customer for your product is sometimes difficult. You CAN succeed – what you put into your work (effort) is what you’ll get in return.
This turned out to be a GREAT idea!! Keiki – tell me what you would do if you had a weekend in addition to the three days to do the project and what was the biggest takeaway for you.

Well, I gotta say, the weekend plus the three days would be a boost in our profit. But, I would want it to be split EVENLY. I would join my group and then we could maybe, possibly do a car wash. Maybe, we could even do a Zumba Fundraiser. Maybe if we did have the extra time, we would’ve made the L&L lunch…

I WOULD HAVE SOLD A LOT MORE PLUS I COULD SELL OTHER PLACES LIKE KONA,FRINEDS,AND CURCH. THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY WOULD BE THAT IT WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME TO BAKE AND GO THERE. I REALLY ENJOYED IT NAND HOPE WE COULD DO IT AGAIN BUT WITH DIFFENT GROUPS.

I think it would be a lot more easier if we had that weekend because it would be less stress off of your shoulders. You could even meet up with your group and discuss what your plan was. If I knew that I had the extra weekend to do it, I would plan out like on Wednesday and Thursday I’ll make the product and the rest of the days I would try to sell it. I think the biggest takeaway for me is that what you put inside your work is what you’ll get in return. Kind of like the golden rule but not only with product to sell, but in pretty much everything you do like classwork and homework. Put a little in, take a little out. U’uku ka hana, U’uku ka loa’a!

I think having a weekend would be better. I think so because then we could get more or maybe less money. i think a takeaway would be still that we could not sell at school.

what I would of done if I had the weekend is alot more like wash more cars and making more money. The biggest take away was time because you hve to plan then do it in a certian amount of time. So time was my biggest take away.

If I had the weekend to do that, I could have gotten a lot more money for our group because I get more time to get everything and have it prepared to sell. I could have also thought of more ideas like massaging my ‘ohana’s back, shoulders, neck, feet, and hands and charge by the hour. Before I knew that this projct was coming up, I was doing that so much times for free, even making their heels very smooth! I would have done a car wash but I just couldn’t find the time to do that. I’m happy with what our group got though.

Because of my supporting family and friends i don’t think i would really need the weekend! I am happy with the money i raised because that is always better than nothing, but if i was given the weekend i would help people carry their products they bought from a store or something. I am just so thankful i actually raised some money!!!

I think I would have preferred to have done that interesting project on the weekend. I think this because I would have had a bit more time to work on the project. But, I still had some awsome fun, even though it was complicated.

Time was my biggest takeaway. If I had the weekend plus three days to earn money I could’ve earned more because I would’ve had more time to go out and sell more lihing mui fruits to more people. I wish we could do this project again.

If I had the weekend I would probably make products like baked goods and sell them around my neighborhood. I only made about $20. I had a hard time finding the time to raise any money so the weekend would have really been good. It’s okay that I only raised a little money because every penny counts.

I think it would be better because it would give my group more time to think about what to do and where to sell it. I think that on the weekends we would have been able to spread the word about us and still be able to sell the products. I think that the biggest take away was the limited time that we were given.

If i had more time i would probably recycle my cans, and bottles. I would also have a car wash with my teammates. T really wanted our selling time to be longer. I can’t believe that our whole class raised $940!!! It is so surprising.

If i had the weekend to do this i would have earned more money. It was a fun experience. A takeaway for me was finding the time to do this since i`m so BUSY on the weekdays.

if i had the weekend i could have washed more cars and make more money. one take away is the time we had to prepare and sell or do the actual getting the money part. this was a great oppurtunity to work with people i dont usually work with.

If I had a weekend added to the 3 days I would try to ask all my family members again if they wanted to buy but if they didn’t want to I would ask all of my friends. I wouldn’t have time to ask and then give it to them so I would do what Kaori did and take pre- orders.

If we had a weekend to do this project I would have made more money and I would have asked more family and friends!! And the take away for me was that it was a week day so it was hard to find people that was pau work at the time that I wanted to start. I also was kinda of busy with the after scool program like hula, ect.

I really enjoyed this wonderful class project. One let down was when we were told not to sell on campus because some of us had our afternoons filled. If I had a weekend to make even more money than I already did I would of done a 9-12 years of age garage sale. Since I have soooo much clothes that are too big or too small. Group 1′s hard work really paided off! WHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Thank you again for the lunch Mrs. Pai.

If I had the weekend to earn more money, I would wash cars because my customers wont feel like we are charging too much but they can have a spotless car. A take away for me was probably finding the time to do this.

If we had the weekend I think that we would have made more money because we could do stuff together. We also would have more time to sell our products. My biggest take away was time.
December 15th, 2011 at 8:30 pm
I would have washed cars for more money. I could have also thought of more ideas to get more money. I could have tried harder during the three days.It was fun doing this activity.
December 15th, 2011 at 8:54 pm
if we had the extra weekend it would be more easy for me because im busy on the weekdays.
It was a good experiance for me because I got to learn how to sell and make stuff to sell. I’m so proud that our class made more than $900.00! I’m so happy we can raise that much money in only that much time. (three days)

If we had the weekend to do the project we would have turned out better. The take away was that i didn’t have time to do it! I also could not just walk around my neighborhood and ask other people. It was raining!
December 16th, 2011 at 1:02 pm
Time was my biggest problem cause if i had a extra 3 days I would have more money and time cause we dont have school on weekend and we could meet with our team to sell together
