I remember having my mom doing this with us. Though I don't remember writing the list, but she would have us look for the items. Trying to match the words on the list to the grocery items. I always had fun doing it. Thanks for the tip.

Family of 16!!!! That is a large family. I love how you incorporated the silent video of the Acerra Brothers playing. I think it makes the reading seem more real and alive to the kids. I also love how it is silent. Kids can focus on the actions when writing and make come up with their own commentary for the silent video.

Mahalo nui for sharing this resource. I'm sure this will be a big help for teachers looking to increase vocabulary with students, especially now that iPads are in our near future at our kula. I look forward to hearing more about language arts.

Mahalo nui for sharing this information. I myself was a struggling reader as a child. Looking back at my childhood reading experiences, I never found reading materials that were at my level or that were interesting to me. I was always given the book to read. And when I was given a choice I was never taught how to find my level of reading books. This made me frustrated as a child and I think contributed to being a reluctant reader. So thank you so much for enlightening me with this information for future use with my students.

WOW...mahalo for sharing this information. It's a great reminder of the importance of literacy. I think sometimes we take for granted how much we rely on literacy skills and how widely it is used.
