Wiki Gardens-
In October of 2010 we were approved to receive four wiki gardens through a vendor. He tutored a student (Nohe- grade 10) in the care of the garden and the SSC had it’s first mobile garden!
In order to allow the plants enough light and water, students needed to create indoor lighting and connect the wiki gardens to the outdoor water hose once a day.
Lighting for plants are crucial for growth and students utilized meter sticks and duck tape to create holders for the plant lights.
Overtime the plants needed much stronger UV light…sunlight and we eventually left the wikis outside for lengths of time.
In January we deconstructed the wikis because the plants were over-run with slugs and it was recommended to fertilize the soil. Once we took them apart other ideas were presented and the birth of the egg-plant idea occurred.
