E Hele Mai… It’s May Day!

Our haumāna are so excited to perform for you at their annual May Day Program being held tomorrow at 8:30 A.M. Please join us for a morning of traditional and contemporary song and dance as we gather together on the lawn in front of Hā’aeamahi.

As a reminder, students should wear their own Hawaiian attire to school tomorrow. They may wear slippers or sandals as they will all be dancing barefoot. Girls, please pull your hair neatly back into a low bun, if possible. For girls with short hair, just pull your hair away from your face as best you can.

Parents, please feel free to kōkua with dressing the students in Kīna’u Pod between 7:15 and 8:00 A.M. All costumes should be returned to the teacher before dismissal from school.

Enjoy the program!

IMPORTANT May Day Information

Kumu Crabbe has informed Papa ‘Ekolu of a change in May Day attire for our boys. Boys do NOT need to purchase their own long sleeved white collared shirts. Kumu will be providing shirts for the boys to wear, and boys need to wear their own long, blue uniform pants.

There are no changes for the girls. They are to wear a mu’umu’u to school and will change into a skirt and blouse that will be distributed on May Day. All costumes must be returned to the teacher before going home that day.

Mahalo for your understanding and cooperation.

Please join us for a night filled with Disney songs and delightful dances on Friday, April 12th at 6:00 p.m. You are sure to enjoy the angelic voices of our very own haumāna.

Papa ‘Ekolu haumana are to report to Kina’u Pod classrooms at 5:30 P.M. dressed in their “Sunday School Best” or choir uniform. Girls should make sure that their hair is pulled back away from their faces. Parents, be sure that you listen to the announcements at the end of the concert so that you will know where to pick up your child. All children will remain with their classmates until the end of the show.

Mahalo for your support!

May Day Attire

May Day is in approximately one month from today. Our girls will be provided with costumes to wear for this day of celebration, however, they will be dressing in school. Girls may wear their own mu’u mu’u to school on May Day. Please bring bobby pins to school to pin the flower arrangement to hair.

Boys will need to wear their own long sleeved white collared shirts and long blue uniform dress pants. Shoes are required for school, but all students will be dancing barefoot.

If you have any questions, please contact Kumu Crabbe or Ms. Manliguis.

Mahalo!
