It is hard to believe that we have already had 3 days of school and it’s only August 9th! We are learning so much about one another and can’t wait to find out more! We (the 2nd grade teachers) would like to thank you (parents and guardians) for being so supportive and generous! The school supplies really do help and we appreciate the amount of time and money you spent to gather those things and have your keiki bring them to school! As for the Art shirts, we won’t be using them until the week of the 19th. So, if your child hasn’t brought it to school yet, don’t worry!
On another note, we know that there have been quite a few memos sent home! We are trying our best to find a better way (for example: possibly consolidate and send home once a week, rather than every day!) We appreciate the time you take to fill-in all of these forms and return them to school as soon as you can!
As a reminder for the upcoming week:
Monday 8/12 MAP Math Test
Tuesday 8/13 MAP Reading Test
Thursday 8/15 Yearbook Picture Taking (if purchasing photos, envelopes and payment are due)
Friday 8/16 K-12 Convocation (Wear Whites)
Thank you so much for your support in these first few days! If these first days are an indication of what our school year will be like together, then it should be a fabulous year! We are glad that we all survived the first week of second grade (students, teachers and parents!)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Never hesitate to contact either of us through your child’s planner, email, or by phone.
Mrs. Oyama and Ms. Fullerton
Second graders will be working on a project this trimester to learn more about their name, themselves, and their ‘ohana. Students brought home a letter today (12-12-2012) about this project. Attached was a sheet (Important Family Names) where you can list parents’ and grandparents’ full names. Students also brought home a Family Tree template to attach copies of photos (colored, no originals please!) Students are expected, with the assistance of their parents, to attach the photos and write the names of their ‘ohana on their family tree. The list of names and family tree is due: January 11, 2013.
This year, each month, we will be sending home book order sheets. Scholastic offers some terrific deals and are usually very quick. If you choose to order, we will accept paper orders in school (with a check payment to: Scholastic Book Clubs) or you may order conveniently online with a credit card. All of the books will be delivered to our classes in school and we will send them home with your child.
For more information, like how to order and our class activation code, see our letter, which will be sent home on August 27, by clicking below.
Aloha e parents and students! We are so happy to have you here, visiting our blog! Our first few days of school have been eventful and we can’t wait to meet many of you at our Open House, which will be at 5:30pm on Friday, August 10, 2012.
Your child has been busy getting ready for your visit. But, we don’t want to spoil the surprise! Just know that each of them are preparing a special treat for you!
Above is a copy of our Welcome Back Letter, which we sent home on the first day of school. Below is a few photos of our little angels posing for the “First Day of Second Grade” pictures.
