La ‘Ohana – Nov. 17, 2012 – Cultivating Our Children and Our ‘Ohana!

Even with the ua (rain) falling that morning, our ‘ohana showed up to our very first LA ‘OHANA (‘Ohana Day) for this school year.  Planned by our Counseling Department with the kokua of Kumu Keali’i Akina, ‘ohana members were able to learn about the planting of kalo.  The preparation of the lepo (dirt) to the planing of the huli was an experience for many of our ‘ohana members!  Working alongside their child and members of the school was a truly a blessing.  Mahalo to our ‘ohana, our counseling staff, and Kumu Keali’i for a wonderful morning.

Balloons Banned from Busses!

Aloha e Na Haumana me Na ‘Ohana!

Balloons – as gifts or otherwise – have become an issue on school busses.  Students will no longer be allowed to take balloons on any of our school busses due to safety concerns.  Students can either deflate the balloon or have someone else take it on a personal vehicle.  Balloons can interfere with the bus drivers’ vision and more recently students have been observed inhaling helium from a balloon while on our school bus.  Please adhere to this new procedure from administration and Transportation Coordinator, Ray Iyo.

Aloha, na’u, na Kumu Lehua
