KMS Performing Arts

The Kamehameha Schools has a performing arts department with a long and rich history.  Students are required to participate in Founders and Day programs.  Those students enrolled in performing arts are able to participate in concerts and programs throughout the school year.

All students are required to learn the following recitations – Hanohano Kapalama, Olelo Hoomaikai, He Inoa No Pauahi, For All the Saints, Psalm 24:1 -5, Provers 22 1 – 6.  http://kms.kapalama.ksbe.edu/recitations.html

Founders’ Days – Kamehameha celebrates the birthdays of our two founders, Bernice Pauahi Bishop and her husband, Charles Reed Bishop.  Students are required to memorize scripture, recitation and song in commemoration.

Concerts – Concerts afford students the opportunity to highlight skills learned.  Listed below are sample concert formats, planning sheet, printed program and follow-up evaluation.  The Student Activities Office will coordinate with the Performing Arts group prior to the concert.  Coordination of supervision, scheduling, transportation, facilities, student dismissal, food requests, etc. will be handled by the sac office.
