homeworkHa‘awina or homework is an important part of KMS’ curriculum, but not managed successfully, homework can create a huge amount of stress and anxiety amongst students, parents and teachers. Although each individual teacher has set their own policy regarding homework and penalties for not completing homework on time, pu‘ūlu olonā teachers all agree that homework is a inevitable piece towards academic success and must be taken seriously. Late work must be completed in a timely manner to avoid a negative impact on student’s academics. Teachers are available during study time, and during scheduled periods. Check individual teacher’s syllabus for details.

Homework and due dates are posted on Blackboard and in individual classes. Students are encouraged to write assignments in their SAB immediately when assigned to avoid “forgetting” when assignments are due.

Refer to page 28 of the KMS Parent & Student Handbook regarding ABSENCES, LEAVES & TARDINESS. It is the student’s kuleana to make sure they understand what they need to do prior to absences, leaves and while on conduct probation in terms of homework. Failure to meet the guidelines set prior to absences will result in a loss of “points” or a reduction in grades.
