Hello everyone!

My name is Ray Parker, and I am the 8th grade U.S. History teacher for the Lama team. I was born and raised on ‘Oahu, graduated from Kamehameha in 2001 and then ventured off to Colorado where I received a B.A in Psychology at Colorado Mesa University.  Upon graduation I returned home and earned my Masters degree in Middle Level Education at the University of Hawai‘i. Besides teaching, I am also the JV Boys Basketball coach here at Kamehameha and enjoy the opportunity to teach life lessons to student-athletes that often can’t be translated in the classroom.  On my personal time I love spending time with my family, exercising, playing basketball, going to live sporting events, and most importantly, adding to my extensive collection of vintage Air Jordan’s and Nike Basketball shoes.  Kamehameha Schools, and Princess Pauahi have blessed me with so many things in my life.  I try to take advantage of every opportunity I can to give back to our school’s wonderful legacy.

Mel Ferreira, Educational Assistant                                                                              meferrei@ksbe.edu
MF2Hi!  My name is Melodee Ferreira, and I am the 8th grade Educational Assistant for Pū‘ulu Lama.  After graduating from Kamehameha and attending both Honolulu Community College and the University of Hawaii, I became a preschool teacher at Kailua Baptist Preschool.  However, I knew in my heart, that I wanted to return to Kamehameha to do my part in giving back to the school that gave me so much! Through God’s magnificent blessings, I’m married to an amazing fireman (my “love at first sight” best friend), we have a beautiful daughter (a Kamehameha student since kindergarten), and adopted our Russian Blue cat (we acquired her via KHON’s adopt a pet segment).  If there is one common love in our family, it’s definitely the ocean, namely, Kaneohe Bay via our 17’ boat.  It is in these waters where our family goes spearfishing, tako diving, or just lounging at the sandbar.  Aren’t we blessed to live in Hawaii?   Overall, my mission in life is to be God’s servant, which encompasses carrying out Pauahi’s legacy.  Without the opportunities I’ve been given, and the individuals who mentored me throughout my life, there is no way I’d be here today.  I can only hope that I can pay it forward to those who I come into contact with every day of my life!
