All 7th graders have from March 8-11, 2013 to select their elective course for next year.
The students will know immediately if they have secured the course requested. The desired course may be closed and they will need to move to their next choice. Be sure to have alternate courses in mind beforehand.

Aloha 7th Grade Parents/Guardians,
Your child is in the process of selecting courses for the 2013-2014 school year. We encourage your active involvement in this important endeavor. If you have an account in KS Connect, you will be able to see what your son or daughter is doing in this process. The choices made by students now will be used to develop the master teaching schedule for next year. Once the schedule is developed, changing selections will be discouraged, as these changes will impact class sizes and the balance of the schedule. Please review the following with your child:
- Catalog of Courses: The catalog can be found on-line at http://kapalama.ksbe.edu/middle/home/. There are also copies with your child’s counselor and advisory teacher. Students should review descriptions of the electives they select – both first choices and alternates prior to submitting their request.
- 2013-2014 Preliminary Course Requests: As your child chooses their elective for next year, you will be able to see the Preliminary Course Requests in KS Connect. We have attached step-by-step instructions for your reference. We believe it is important for you to be involved in building the Course Requests and encourage you to pull it up in KS Connect to discuss with your child. If you have any questions or concerns about what you see, please talk with your child. If you still have concerns, or if you have questions, please contact your child’s counselor.
Registration for Grade 8 will be from
7:00am, March 8, 2013 through 4:00pm, March 11, 2013.
By registering this way, you will know immediately if your child has secured the course requested. You may find that the course desired is closed and you will need to move to your next choice. Be sure to have alternate courses in mind beforehand. The student may be added to the waitlist in KS Connect, but there is still no guarantee that he/she will receive his/her first choice, so you should register for an alternate course available. Once your child has finalized their choices, they will no longer have access to their registration.
Your role in advising your child about his/her courses for the next academic year is an important one. In this way, your child can be better assured that his/her choice of courses for the coming year will be appropriate and enjoyable.
