{"id":302,"date":"2017-08-22T10:00:40","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T20:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/dawolff\/?page_id=302"},"modified":"2017-08-22T10:14:48","modified_gmt":"2017-08-22T20:14:48","slug":"historical-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/kekuiapoiwa\/historical-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Historical Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Primary Sources<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary sources are first-hand accounts of an event or time in history that has yet to be interpreted by another person.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of primary sources include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First person accounts: such as diaries, journals, letters, interviews, speeches, memos, manuscripts, memoirs, and autobiographies.<\/li>\n<li>Official records: such as government publications, census data, court reports, police records.<\/li>\n<li>Correspondence of an organization or agency: such a minutes, reports.<\/li>\n<li>Newspaper and magazine articles, viewed as a whole, during the time of the event.<\/li>\n<li>Photographs, paintings, film and television programs, audio recordings which document an event.<\/li>\n<li>Research: such an opinion polls which document attitudes an thought during the time of an event.<\/li>\n<li>Artifacts: such as objects, tools, clothing, etc. of the time period or event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communication through multimedia venues: such as listservs, chatrooms, and electronic journals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondary Sources<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Secondary sources are scholarly books or articles that are based on primary data (and\/or other secondary sources)\u00a0 and analyze, critique, report, summarize, interpret, or restructure that data.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of secondary sources include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reference books: such as encyclopedias, handbooks, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews<\/li>\n<li>Textbooks<\/li>\n<li>Most scholarly books<\/li>\n<li>Most magazine and journal articles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Primary Sources Primary sources are first-hand accounts of an event or time in history that has yet to be interpreted by another person.
