When to cite:<\/p>\n

Cite the work of those individuals whose key ideas, theories, or research have directly influenced your work. Citation of an article implies<\/em> that you have personally read the cited work.<\/p>\n

Quoting and Paraphrasing <\/strong><\/p>\n

When quoting, always provide the author, year, and specific page citation or paragraph number for nonpaginated material.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0 If the quotation is fewer than 40 words use quotation marks.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0 If more than 40 words, display it in a freestanding block of text and omit the quotation marks.<\/p>\n

a) Start the block quotation on a new line and indent the block.<\/p>\n

b) If there are additional paragraphs within the quotation, indent the first line.<\/p>\n

c) Double-space the entire paragraph.<\/p>\n

d) At the end of the block, do citation.<\/p>\n

Reference Components<\/strong><\/p>\n

Invert all author\u2019s name; give surname and initials. If there are different authors with the same surname and first initial, the author\u2019s full first name may be given in brackets:<\/p>\n
