Welcome to the Ke Koʻi Lipi Website

Kamehameha Schools Kapālama High Schoolʻs One-to-One Learning program offers every student an expanded set of new learning opportunities for both collaborative and self directed learning. With a personal device available, every student has access to an integral learning tool to gain the 21st century skills required to excel and compete globally; be empowered by and engaged with the curriculum; increase their knowledge and understanding of technology; become constructors and designers of information and ideas.

Our One-to-One Learning program is called the “Ke Koʻi Lipi”(sharp adze). An adze is a Hawaiian axe made out of fine basalt stone. It is found only a few special areas such as Mauna Kea, and Puʻu Moiwi on Kahoʻolawe. Before the arrival of iron, koʻi were our kūpuna most prized and important tool for building hale (houses), waʻa (canoe), and kiʻi (sacred wooden images). Koʻi were passed down through ‘ohana and were known to also possess spiritual mana. Koʻi were an important tool for our ancestors in all aspects of society. It is appropriate to use this name for our new program which will help our students be industrious builders in their search for knowledge and truth.

  1. My son, a returning senior will be off island until 8/9/15. Would it be possible to sign him up for a border laptop session? The last date on tinyurl was for 8/7/15.
