Dodge-Burn Project

- Using the tech class folder (photo library or dodge/burn files), pick a photo of a plant or scenery and use the dodge and burn technique to enhance it. Keep in mind that you’re using the lighting as a technique to improve the quality of the picture.

- You will need a before and after shot
- You will need to include a description that includes the following:

1- describe the technique
2- what you are doing
3- why use it, how it improved

- Build this on letter size paper at 300 ppi

Portrait Project - 8×10 at 300 ppi

- Create a portrait display of your partner in class
- Use only 1 picture of the person
- Check the public/tech class/ 2008-09 folder/ portrait-project
- If no good pictures, you may take more
- You may have background, only scenery
- You will need to have the person’s name on the portrait
- All will be displayed in the 8th grade pod

Complete the following:

- Name Project folder and checklist
- Campus collage with print of image and layers
- Cookbook 1 and 2 files

Back to School Day

Construct a picture/collage to go into your frame

- 7×5 @ 300 ppi
- must have picture of you and parent/relative/guest
- must have text, can be name, title or Back To School Day
- use selection tools
- have a custom colored background, no white background

When done put on flashdrive, name file with your name.

Following Projects MUST be in TODAY

2- Name Folder Project
3- Campus Collage - print screen shot and turn in PSD file
4- Sign up and start on Advisory cookbook divider

- Complete any back work

Campus Collage Project

Using pictures that you have taken or from the photo library, create a collage of the middle school
- 8×10 inches 300 ppi
- must have “feathered or creative edges
- must have a selective mask (cutout) with layer adjustment
- must have title
- your name must be on it bottom right

To turn in you will take a screen shot (shift-apple-4) of the photoshop page including the all layers, print this screen shot and turn in.
**TURN IN the psd file with all layers on the jump drives for printing and grade.

3- turn in project folder with name and all required files including photos

Photo Collage 1 - my middle school campus

- go out and take some photos of the campus
- to make a collage of the campus
- download photos and use camera raw to adjust them
- on Thursday we’ll go over the requirements and learn some new things

2- Graded Project
specs: 5×7 @ 300 ppi - rgb color - follow directions

Using your first name only, create a name banner
requirements:
- First letter of name must be creatively redesigned
- At least 3 blending options must be used
- Use of clipping path
- Use of typing on a path
- Use of masking technique
- Use of layer adjustment
- Attached all photos used, all photos must have come from the public-techclass folder

To submit file on flashdrive:
-create a new folder with first name-bannerproject …example: John-bannerproject
-put all photos used in here
-name file with your first name, size..example: John-5×7
-submit a psd file with all layers (John-5×7.psd)
-submit a flattened tiff file (John-5×7.tif)

You may add other words to this, but this must be the main focus

3 - Text Type - 7×5 - 300ppi
- make text
- use transform tool to resize and position
- * layer - type - create work path
- use path selection or direct selection tool
- select points move points to make new text paths
- use path selection tool to select all points
- right click - make selection - okay
- make a new layer
- go to move took, edit - fill with color of choice
- delect select - Cmd-d or Ap-d
- turn off original text layer
- save
- open new photoshop letter size 300 ppi
- move 7×5 new and prior 7×5 onto page
- print in color - turn in
