Illustrator Christmas Card

5×7 or 7×5 at 300 dpi

You will make all your art in illustrator, save them as ai files

To make card you will open photoshop and insert them as smart objects

- no white at edges
- Merry Christmas or Mele Kalikimaka customized text
- layer adjustments, levels, hue/saturation, curves
- at least one illustrator art on it

other:
- use of filters, ex. spherize
- lighting effects
- layer masks
- clipping layers
- opacity changes
- layer mode changes
- dodge/burn
- feathering edges - layer masks

- shapes where pictures will be inserted, clipping mask
- no downloaded art or pictures
- Tech class - photo library - christmas lights stuff

- build a poster that reflects on Paina Day
- use faces, pictures and ADD captions to them
- captions that will reflect the fun, enjoyment of the day

Class Portrait Project + 3 Classmates

- 8×10, at 300 ppi
- picture of person, no others, more than 1 okay
- must have adjustment layers
- use of dodge/burn technique, or vignetting, duplicate layer to show this
- must have person’s name in creative, distinctive, appearance
- must have framing
- you will continue with 3 other classmates, 2 choice, 1 assigned.

Dodge-Burn Project

- Using the tech class folder (photo library or dodge/burn files), pick a photo of a plant or scenery and use the dodge and burn technique to enhance it. Keep in mind that you’re using the lighting as a technique to improve the quality of the picture.

- You will need a before and after shot
- You will need to include a description that includes the following:

1- describe the technique
2- what you are doing
3- why use it, how it improved

- Build this on letter size paper at 300 ppi

Portrait Project - 8×10 at 300 ppi

- Create a portrait display of your partner in class
- Use only 1 picture of the person
- Check the public/tech class/ 2008-09 folder/ portrait-project
- If no good pictures, you may take more
- You may have background, only scenery
- You will need to have the person’s name on the portrait
- All will be displayed in the 8th grade pod

Back to School Day

Construct a picture/collage to go into your frame

- 7×5 @ 300 ppi
- must have picture of you and parent/relative/guest
- must have text, can be name, title or Back To School Day
- use selection tools
- have a custom colored background, no white background

When done put on flashdrive, name file with your name.
