bookwork #6 (optimization)

October 28th, 2009 by karose

pg. 214; 4,7,9,14,18,19 and 25.  Don’t forget, for these problems we are usually finding a formula for what needs to be maximized or minimized.  We then differentiate that formula and set it equal to zero.  Here we are finding the critical points which will allow us to locate maxs and mins with a sign chart.  The only difference is that these are word problems.  Draw pictures and try to get the formulas in one variable.  I will post some hints tomorrow so check back.

October 2nd, 2009 by karose

reflectionsTake a few minutes to reflect on the first quarter of AP Calculus.  Some of the things I would like you to consider are (1) the difficulty of the content, (2) the amount of work assigned, (3) the format of the class and anything else that comes to mind.  Please relfect and write a bit to let me know how you are doing.  I will keep all of the posts private so go ahead and share anything thats on your mind.
