Our First Huaka‘i

Kindergarteners enjoyed venturing out into our kaiaulu, visiting the fire station and public library.
Here is a sampling of the students responses to what they saw and learned:
At the fire station…
* we saw how they get off the helicopter.
* we saw and went in the fire truck.
* we saw where they eat and sleep.
* we got to try on the fire fighter hat.
* Uncle Zac dressed in the whole suit.
* we saw the boat and how to get on it.

Wow…how lucky the kindergartners are to use the fire hose. That looks fun!! I heard that one of the fire fighters who gave your tour is a former Kamehameha Schools Hawaii campus student. Great for the students to see former students in the work force.

  2. Mrs. Rutherford says:

What a great huaka`i! Maybe we have a future fire fighter in KA!

  3. Malia Hudgins says:

Was an awesome huakai! Kalia enjoyed herself and is excited to go on another!

  4. Farrah-Marie Gomes says:

Thank you for organizing a great field trip. Koa was so excited to see the chopper and boat. While his uncle is a fire fighter and his grandpa a retired fire captain (both in Hawaii County), the chopper and boat are things he’s heard about, but never seen up close. Mahalo!
