We welcomed the ‘ohana of Pono, Rylee and Lehua for lunch this Tuesday!
Mahalo for joining us!
What a fun day- with no rain!- we had last Friday as we ventured out on our first huakaʻi to Waiakea Fire Station, Hilo Library and Carvalho Park. The fire fighters were awesome as was the childrenʻs librarian. Our chaperones were unbelievably helpful and the keiki were well behaved!

We welcomed and celebrated Isaiahʻs ‘ohana at our September Hāweo lunch this week. Both his mom and dad, Carrie and Chris came to eat and visit with him.
Mahalo for joining our kula!
In our social studies unit on family, we have been discussing wants and needs. Shelters came up as a need and so the keiki explored building them using various materials. Discussions shared what they needed in their shelter as well as how to make them sturdy.
As we count the number of days in school, we pause on days that end on zero to celebrate that many days (we are at 22!) and look for ways to count and group that number. On day 20, we had fun grouping cheerios up to 20!
The keiki explored and worked in a reading app called Razkids this morning! I was so happy at their focus and independence in doing the app after a short demonstration!
We look forward to sharing more about this at Open House tomorrow evening!

Our class practiced poetry writing about the topic of playgrounds- something we figured we know a lot about! Read and enjoy the poems written by Blaze and Lehua!

Our class enjoyed listening top the story, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, with our Po‘o Kumu, Mr. Aganus this afternoon. There was lots of conversation as he shared this delightful story. We enjoy hearing stories read to us and invite ‘ohana to come in and share when you have the time!
