My successes are that I could actually make my own choices not somebody else make them for me cause whatever choice I make that person will make a disgusting face so my improvement is that I am able to zone out that face. My mana’o is that you should take the 28 book serious cause it is serious. Another improvement is that I can be a better listener now that I talk less in class and now I can be a great sixth grader because of my attitude that makes me great.

Woah 1,000,000 words! When I found out that my goal for the school year was to read a million words I was thinking that it was impossible, but my classmates proved that it was. One thing that I can improve on is reading more I know that if I push myself and I actually read I know I can make my goal. In the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester I didn't meet my reading goal for the school year. My advice for the feature fish philosophers is to always push your self and don't put stuff off wishing that it will all go away. The vocabulary should always be done after you finish your book and so you don't have to flip throught the pages you should write the page number, and the vocabulary word on a post it or make a list. Hearing that our class read 19,460,000 word made me so happy I'm very proud of our team! As you see above our fish mate Keawe hit the 2,000,000! Great job Keawe! It can be done! :D

When I first heard we had to read a million words I thought our teacher had gone crazy. I mean a million words in one school year!!!! That sounds crazy to me. At first I wanted to give up and quit but as the year progressed I learned that quitting isn't the answer to your problems. You need to persevere in order to reach your goals. Before I started 5th grade I hated reading. Now I love it!!!! I learned that in order to reach your goals you have to choose your attitude. My success is that I love to read books now. For future fish my advise for you is to get ready to love reading. If you do or if you don't when you walk through that door there is good chance that when you leave 5th grade you will love to read. Good luck future fish and I wish you the best!!!! :) Swim strong!!!! :)

Another thing is, because you read these many books of many different genres... You sometimes get to love....like the genre even more! This happened to me and many of my teammates! Don't be afraid to try new genres! Good luck!

Omg....1,000,000 words! 9 genres per trimester... And at least 28 books for the whole year! These were some of the comments my class made when we were informed about the 1,000,000 word goal! I've been pretty consistent with the amount of books I complete per trimester but I think I could've done better! In the first trimester I completed 8 genres and I did not meet my goal...but since then Ive improved...I've completed 9 genres for the 2nd and 3rd trimester! I did meet the goal but I think if I put a little more effort into it I could reach higher standards then the goals we set for ourselves! As you can see above are our team and the fish that have completed... 9 genres for the third trimester... One million words per year and of course our fish mate Keawe who did very well and achieved 2,000,000 words!! Great job Keawe!! It can be done! Some advise for the next years i'a is just to swim strong and try your best..... Set your goals appropriately and Hoomau! Use your problem solving skills if needed....like when you think ohh noo Im not gonna be able to reach my goal... Problem solve.....read extra...extend your time every night when reading....read on the weekends.... If you run into a problem use yours skills and just believe in yourself! Pray to ke akua if you need to! It can be done!!
