After the earthquake in Chile last month wee saw the importance of measuring natural disasters. So we have been building our very own seismographs. Next class we will test them to see just how small of an earthquake they can measure.

We started off the year running and have jumped into so very heavy content : PLATE TECTONICS… ask your child about, seismology, volcanology, geography, and geochronology. At times it may be difficult to explain the boundaries of tectonic plates, but the students have done a great job with classifying and coming together to define what makes a plate boundary.

Aloha mai kakou At the start of the sixth week of school so much has happened already! We have been working on our M&M lab which talks about the States and Properties of Matter:
Welcome Kindergarten and First Grade Parents. We are entering our 6th week of school and have started our FORCES and MOTION unit. We are building race car tracks! Below is a picture of our test of different materials for our race car tracks. Now the students are building their own.
Feel free to talk about forces and motion with your child. Different topics include: balance, gravity, spinning, pushing and pulling.
