{"id":1008,"date":"2011-12-16T06:59:50","date_gmt":"2011-12-16T06:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/hesekolu\/?p=1008"},"modified":"2011-12-16T06:59:50","modified_gmt":"2011-12-16T06:59:50","slug":"santas-elves-hard-at-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hesekolu\/2011\/12\/16\/santas-elves-hard-at-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa&#8217;s Elves Hard at Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Santa&#8217;s Elves from 3A and 3B went on a trip to Target this week to shop for a Big Island family in need.\u00a0 Each group of four students had a task to accomplish&#8230;\u00a0 Buy all the items on their shopping list with the budget that was given to them.\u00a0 Using the skills taught in math, students made estimations to make decisions on what to buy and how much to buy.\u00a0 A myriad of goods were bought, including items such as a toaster oven, crock pot, vacuum cleaner and many other household goods.\u00a0 Of course we couldn&#8217;t forget the kids in the family, so the children shopped for toys and clothes as well.\u00a0 What a wonderful way to spread Christmas joy to a family that lost their home due to a fire two months ago!\u00a0 Our keiki gave generously and worked hard to get the basic necessities for their &#8220;adopted&#8221;
