Papa ‘Ekolu students once again had the opportunity to play the role of consumers. This time it was at the Hilo Farmers’ Market where they shopped for items in specific food categories. Another goal of the Third Graders was to make observations of the many vendors in business in the downtown Hilo market. The students were looking for ideas as they plan to open their very own business in school. This was an educational trip which involved problem solving and mathematical skills as well as observational skills to learn about our economy. Real life experiences is the best type of education for any student!
