On student led conference days, we make every effort to provide a rich learning environment, a bit out of the usual, for students. Specials “plus” (including our resource teachers and two guest teachers) create and deliver interesting and fun activities for students for most of the day. On the first student led conference days in November, we were fortunate to have our Hoʻokahua staff, based in Honolulu, work with our students focusing on the theme of Mālama Honua and the worldwide voyage of the Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia.
On March 5 and 6, the student led conference days were made even more special as our very own grounds crew stepped up to the plate to serve as teachers for our haumana, K-5. Same focus: Mālama Honua. How can we mālama our own honua, our own ʻāina, right here at school.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Kawika Lewis, Keiki Kekipi, Kaʻimi Wilson and Greg Ho for teaching our haumana. And also to Keniala Abilla and Darcee Fernandez for their support on those two days.
