Aloha from Principal Aldrich
Dear Kamehameha Hawai`i Alumnus,
Aloha! It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that effective August 1, 2011, I will be leaving my position as principal to work at our Campus Strategies and Academic Affairs office in Honolulu. My new position will require me to provide support to all three Kamehameha campuses on the island of Oahu, Maui and Hawai`i.
This move is very emotional for me as I have had a number of positive memories working with you, your families, our faculty and staff.
As I leave my post, I pray that you, our alumnus, will continue to strive and make the way for other Kamehameha Hawai`i graduates to follow. The values of Aloha, Maläma, Kuleana, Imi na`auao, `Ike pono , Ho`omau and Ha`aha`a are core values that we should all live by. By living these values as graduates, you will set the standard for all fellow graduates to follow. This is what Princess Pauahi envisioned when she wanted students that attended Kamehameha “to be good and industrious men and women”.
As we face life, there will be celebrations and challenges ahead. Please remember this famous quote that is displayed proudly in a number of common areas of our school as a reminder:
“Times will come when you feel you are being pushed into the background. Never allow this to happen-stand always on your own foundation. But you will have to make that foundation. There will come time when to make this stand will be difficult, especially to you of Hawaiian birth; but conquer you can-if you will”. Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop
My prayers and aloha go with you. It has been an honor and privilege to serve you and your families.
Ke Akua Pu,
