Claps of thunder, flashes of lightning, cracks and crashes of earth all heralding this auspicious being. From the loins of Hina, a progeny of H\u0101kalanileo, raised at H\u0101lauoloolo by Uli &#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u02bbO Kana ke kaula, ke keiki, ka \u02bbeu kupu\u02bbeu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cKana, the rope, the child, the hero\u201d \u00a0&#8212; \u00a0Kilohana Hirano<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Uli ends the prologue by laying out the conflict between Hilo and Moloka\u02bbi, the abduction of Hina by Moloka\u02bbi chief Kapepe\u02bbekauila and the dire consequences for all involved.<\/p>\n<p><b>ACT ONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Scene One\u2014Mokuola, Hilo<\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_396\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-396\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-396 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF6835\" width=\"604\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/DSCF6835.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-396\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Moku Ola (also called &#8220;Coconut Island&#8221;) in Hilo Bay, now accessible via walkway.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hina, a chiefess of Hilo and the wife of the ruling chief H\u0101kalanileo, bathes in the moonlight assisted by her entourage of attendants (\u201cA Hilo Au I Ka P\u014d La\u02bbi\u201d). \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">\u201cA Hilo Au I Ka P\u014d La\u02bbi\u201d was composed for the original H\u014d\u02bbike in 2011 to capture a moment where Hina and her attendants enjoy an evening under the moonlight while surrounded by fragrant hala and kissed by the Kanilehua rain at Mokuola. Metaphors of romance can be found in the cool mauka breeze and the playful seaspray. \u00a0\u2013 Kalehua Simeona<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_365\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-365\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-365 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"IMGL5542\" width=\"604\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5542.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-365\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hina (Hiwa Brown) and her attendants (Sierra Gleason and Tiari Faagata) bathe in the moonlight at Moku Ola.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here in the privacy of her attendants, she is able to confide her ennui (\u201cPulup\u0113 I Ke Au Kai\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>No sooner has she finished her lament than Kapepe\u02bbekauila arrives to steal her away in a plot to ransom peace between Hilo and Moloka\u02bbi. \u00a0Upon seeing Hina, Kapepe\u02bbekauila cannot resist her beauty (\u201cHe Leo K\u016b I Ka P\u014d\u201d). \u00a0The seeds of love are planted. \u00a0His brother, Keolo\u02bbewa recognizes this change in his brother and reminds him that they are there to take her. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila composes himself. \u00a0Despite resistance from her attendants, Hina is whisked away by the rogue chief.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Two\u2014Pi\u2018ihonua, Hilo. \u00a0A few days later.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kana tries desperately to discover his missing mother\u2019s whereabouts by using the powers he has been given by his grandmother and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kahu,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Uli. \u00a0Uli knows where her daughter Hina has been taken, but will not freely reveal her location lest she lose her prophetic powers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Niheu, Kana\u2019s brother, enters and attempts to convince his grandmother to reveal his mother\u2019s location. \u00a0Uli refuses. \u00a0As with Kana, she recognizes freely giving the information to her grandsons will deprive them of a necessary life journey to maturity.<\/p>\n<p>H\u0101kalanileo, Hina\u2019s husband, arrives along with his brother Haho. \u00a0Their purpose is to seek Uli\u2019s help in finding Hina. \u00a0They honor Uli with a chant of homage (\u201cKa Wahine Noho Kuauli\u201d) to flatter Uli so that she will disclose Hina\u2019s whereabouts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deep in verdant forest, in the company of the most sacred. A <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mele inoa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Uli, mother of Hina; grandmother of Kana, a prophet deserving of only the highest kapu. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">E \u014d mai ka wahine noho kuauli, \u02bbO Uli ka mak\u0101ula i ke kapu. \u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8212; Kilohana Hirano<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Uli sees through it, though, and rebukes H\u0101kalanileo\u2019s methods of torturing people during the search, and for not heeding her prophecy that this tragedy would occur if he married Hina. \u00a0H\u0101kalanileo and Haho assert that they are doing everything in their power to find Hina (\u201cE Hu\u02bbe Ke K\u016bpe\u02bbe\u201d). \u00a0Uli dismisses them. \u00a0Insulted for the final time, H\u0101kalanileo and his entourage leave.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_367\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-367\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-367 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805-300x258.jpg\" alt=\"IMGL5805\" width=\"300\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805-300x258.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805-768x661.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805-1024x881.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL5805.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Uli (Pomai Longakit) dissuades Kana (Kuuhiapo Jeong) from joining his brother Niheu (K\u0101\u02bbeo Cachola) in the search for their abducted mother Hina.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In a final attempt to discover his mother\u2019s whereabouts, Niheu attempts to convince his brother Kana (\u201cUa Pili I Ke Koko\u201d) that they must set out on their own to find their mother. \u00a0Uli stops Kana from joining Niheu because she feels he is not ready for such a journey.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Three\u2014H\u0101\u2018upu, North Coast Molokai. Later the same day.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kapepe\u02bbekauila and his warriors return to H\u0101\u02bbupu after their Hilo raid and celebrate their stolen treasures including Hina (\u201cK\u016b \u02bbA\u02bbe \u02bbO H\u0101\u02bbupu\u201d). \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea, wife of Keolo\u02bbewa, brother to Kapepe\u02bbekauila, recognizes Hina and accompanies her to her quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Four\u2014H\u0101\u2018upu, Moments later.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hina is tired and confused. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea attempts to comfort her while Hina continues to express disquiet at her circumstances. \u00a0Hina recognizes Nu\u02bbakea as an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ali\u02bbi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and learns that Nu\u02bbakea is Keolo\u02bbewa\u2019s wife. \u00a0She then attempts to persuade Nu\u02bbakea to ask Keolo\u02bbewa to free her. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea lets Hina know that although Keolo\u02bbewa is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ali\u02bbi nui<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Moloka\u02bbi, there is only one chief of H\u0101\u02bbupu and that is Kapepe\u02bbekauila. \u00a0Hina queries Nu\u02bbakea as to why she left O\u02bbahu to lead a life of exile on Moloka\u02bbi. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea replies that she did not believe in the new <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kapu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> system of Pa\u02bbao. \u00a0She would rather live as an exile in freedom than be bound to a restrictive system of privilege. \u00a0This resonates with Hina\u2019s ennui. \u00a0This insight generates a vision of doom for H\u0101\u02bbupu as expressed by Hina (\u201cP\u014dhina\u201d). \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea concedes that her prophet brother, Moi, has seen a similar destiny. \u00a0Exhausted, Hina finally falls asleep where she is haunted by the prophecy of Moi as related in a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hula ki\u02bbi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (\u201cMoe \u02bbUhane\u201d). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Alone and determined, Kana expresses his undying love for his mother and promises that he will find her (\u201cKaula Kupu\u02bbeu\u201d).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although discarded to the cane field at birth, Kana remains loyal to his mother Hina. As he toils with the decision to make chase to rescue her from her captors. He recalls her beauty &#8211; brilliant like the glow of the moon. The beauty of Hilo. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Na wai e pakele aku\u2026<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0&#8212; Kilohana Hirano<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>ACT TWO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Scene One. \u00a0Kauhale of H\u0101kalanileo. Hilo. \u00a0A week later.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As his search for Hina proves unsuccessful, H\u0101kalanileo has invited chiefs from other districts and islands to help in his quest. \u00a0To celebrate a unified pact to find the missing chiefess, H\u0101kalanileo gives a large feast. \u00a0For after-dinner entertainment, the party plays a game of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kilu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (\u201cKau Ka Hali\u02bba\u201d). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cKau Ka Hali\u02bba\u201d is an adaptation of a Mele Aloha found in the mo\u02bbolelo of Hi\u02bbiakaikapoliopele. Love is celebrated in the lehua groves of Pana\u02bbewa. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Konikoni ma\u02bbe\u02bbele l\u0101 i ke kino<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cLove\u02bbs desires leave the body numb.\u201d \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Kalehua Simeona<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the height of the festivities, Niheu enters, dismayed at his father\u2019s capriciousness. He admonishes his father for not trying hard enough and reveals that he has discovered the whereabouts of his mother. \u00a0Through a round of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kilu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and with the help of Kana and his Shadows, it is revealed that Hina is being held captive at H\u0101\u02bbupu, Moloka\u02bbi by none other than the chief Kapepe\u02bbekauila (\u201cNaka Ka Papa O Kaiolohia\u201d). \u00a0H\u0101kalanileo doubts this, but Niheu vouches for its validity and calls him to action. \u00a0H\u0101kalanileo hesitates while his brother, Haho, takes up the challenge: onward to Molokai and the rescue of Hina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Two. \u00a0Kuhaimoana, H\u0101\u2018upu. \u00a0Early evening the following day.<\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_368\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-368\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-368 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401-300x215.jpg\" alt=\"IMGL6401\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401-300x215.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401-768x552.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401-1024x736.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL6401.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-368\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Keolo\u02bbewa (Hansel Kaaumoana) listens as Kapepe\u02bbekauila (Daylan-Blake Kalai) defends his decision to abduct Hina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kapepe\u02bbekauila and Keolo\u02bbewa, go through a late afternoon regimen of exercise. \u00a0Keolo\u02bbewa banters about his brother\u2019s ulterior motives for kidnapping Hina. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila assures his brother that his intentions are not selfish in nature, and that Hina\u2019s kidnapping is to goad the chiefs of the other islands to act. \u00a0Through the discussion, it is revealed that Kapepe\u02bbekauila\u2019s true motivations lie in his responsibility to be true to his gods and live out his destiny to oppose the new system of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kapu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> brought to the islands by Pa\u02bbao. \u00a0Keolo\u02bbewa does not believe this and the conversation turns confrontational as the two brothers argue over the validity of such a destiny. \u00a0Keolo\u02bbewa believes surrendering to the new system and surviving is better than dying. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila does not agree. \u00a0Keolo\u02bbewa redirects and queries his brother to see if his true intention is to have children with Hina, which could bridge the two belief systems. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila tells his brother that after he defeats H\u0101kalanileo, he plans to set Hina free so that she can return to her island and testify to the resolve of H\u0101\u02bbupu, and that they live the way of their ancestors, unoppressed by the gods of a foreign land (\u201cNo H\u0101\u02bbupukele K\u0101na Mele\u201d). \u00a0The scene ends with a messenger reporting that Hina and Nu\u02bbakea are touring H\u0101\u02bbupu. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila goes to join them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Three. \u00a0H\u0101\u2018upu. \u00a0Moments later.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the sun sets, the residents of H\u0101\u02bbupu celebrate the greatness of their land (\u201cAloha H\u0101\u02bbupu\u201d). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAloha H\u0101\u02bbupu\u201d was also composed in 2011. The people of Kapepe\u02bbekauila welcome Hina and celebrate the conquest of their <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ali\u02bbi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. A sweet whistle can be heard in the uplands as the people gather ashore in adoration and support. \u00a0\u2013 Kalehua Simeona<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This celebration segues into a duet by Hina and Nu\u2019akea recognizing the beauty of the sunset (\u201cE Kau M\u0101lie Ka L\u0101\u201d). \u00a0The bond of motherhood is established between the two women. \u00a0This peaceful moment is disrupted by Kapepe\u02bbekauila\u2019s entrance. \u00a0Hina rebukes him for his actions and motivation. \u00a0He asks her if she does not see the peacefulness of a people living in communal harmony of their ancestors. \u00a0\u00a0She scoffs at his hypocrisy, arguing that he has deprived her of such freedom. He assures her she has nothing to fear from him. \u00a0She continues to chide him, challenging her captor to prove his benevolence by setting her free. \u00a0Impressed by her resolve, he reveals his intention to use her as a witness of H\u0101\u02bbupu\u02bbs determination to remain independent forever (\u201cNo H\u0101\u02bbupukele Kou Mele\u201d). \u00a0The seeds of romance begin to sprout.<\/p>\n<p>The Act ends with a report that H\u0101kalanileo and the other island chiefs, have launched a vast armada bound for H\u0101\u02bbupu. \u00a0The alarm is given to prepare for battle. \u00a0Hina predicts that the morning will bring a red tide. \u00a0H\u0101\u02bbupu\u2019s destiny is set, but who will set it right?<\/p>\n<p><b>ACT THREE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Scene One. \u00a0Battleground H\u0101\u2018upu. Moments later.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From her vantage point, Hina witnesses the carnage of the battle. \u00a0The fact these warriors are dying in order to rescue her upsets her greatly. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea enters dressed in battle gear ready to defend Hina if any enemy should enter. \u00a0She tries to assuage Hina\u2019s despair, but Hina is nonplussed and tries to end her life. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea stops her. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea admits she does not like the death of so many warrior sons. \u00a0Appealing to her motherly instinct, Nu\u02bbakea attempts to persuade Hina to contact her son Kana and end the onslaught. \u00a0Hina admits she receives dreams from Kana, but cannot contact him directly. \u00a0Consequently, the two women plot Hina\u2019s escape before the Hilo forces attack. \u00a0Nu\u02bbakea promises that when the Hilo forces arrive the following day, she will help Hina escape to safety with her sons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Three. \u00a0Aboard the Kaumai\u2018eli\u2018eli. \u00a0Dawn.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As H\u0101kalanileo and his entourage sleep, Kapepe\u02bbekauila\u2019s agent, Kea\u02bbulenakahi, (the \u201cswordfish\u201d), boards the vessel to assassinate the chief (\u201cKe Ola Kapu\u201d). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">As Kana and Niheu prepare for the arduous journey to H\u0101\u02bbupu, Uli foretells of the dangers ahead. Dark clouds roll in with the \u02bb\u016akiu wind, cloaking Kaumai\u02bbeli\u02bbeli. \u00a0\u00a0&#8212; Kilohana Hirano<\/p>\n<p>Hina senses the fog is from her son and answers with a reprise of \u201cKaula Kupu\u02bbeu\u201d. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila enters, overhearing Hina\u2019s plea to her son for her rescue.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_371\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-371\" style=\"width: 165px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-371 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172-165x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMGL7172\" width=\"165\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172-165x300.jpg 165w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172-768x1393.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172-565x1024.jpg 565w, http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hah\/files\/2016\/06\/IMGL7172.jpg 1129w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 165px) 100vw, 165px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-371\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kana (Kuuhiapo Jeong) summons a fog to mask their surprise attack on H\u0101\u02bbupu.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kapepe\u02bbekauila rejoices over the fog, believing it will stymie the advance of the Hilo forces and allow his warriors to rest. \u00a0Hina reproves him for his hubris and threatens to ruin his plan by refusing to be rescued. \u00a0This prospect upsets Kapepe\u02bbekauila and he threatens to send her back with the bones of her sons. \u00a0She echoes Kapepe\u02bbekauila\u2019s comment that she is a prisoner of her beauty. \u00a0Hina finds temporary comfort in his arms until a messenger arrives announcing an assault by the Hilo forces. \u00a0Kapepe\u02bbekauila realizes his pride has led to his undoing. \u00a0Upon his exit Hina secretly prays for his safety.<\/p>\n<p><b>Scene Five. \u00a0Ridge at Manuahi. \u00a0H\u0101\u2018upu. \u00a0Early Morning.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While being pursued by a force of H\u0101\u02bbupu warriors, a small detachment of Hilo warriors including Niheu and Haho race toward H\u0101\u02bbupu. \u00a0Haho pauses to confer with Niheu. \u00a0He is worried that they are being chased into a trap. \u00a0He suggests one warrior continue up to rescue Hina while the others make a stand at the present spot. \u00a0Niheu agrees and offers to be the lone warrior to rescue his mother. \u00a0Haho offers to take his place because he feels Niheu can rally the warriors to make a successful stand. \u00a0Niheu agrees.
