\"Haupu<\/a>
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

H\u0101\u02bbupu\u00a0<\/i><\/b>is an opera based on the legend of Hina and her son Kana.\u00a0 Hina, an ali\u02bbi from Hilo is kidnapped by Kapepe\u02bbekauila, a rogue ali\u02bbi from the island of Moloka\u02bbi.\u00a0 In retaliation for this outrageous kidnapping, Hina\u02bbs sons, Kana and Niheu mount an attack on Kapepe\u02bbekauila\u02bbs fortress at H\u0101\u02bbupu on the north shore of Moloka\u02bbi.\u00a0 While this daring rescue is being conceived and carried out, the unexpected happens:\u00a0 Hina begins to fall in love with her captor Kapepe\u02bbekauila.\u00a0 In the end, Hina is saved by her sons and Kapepe\u02bbekauila vanquished although we never know the true fate of Hina\u02bbs love for the Moloka\u02bbi ali\u02bbi.<\/p>\n

This opera is the third \u02bb\u014dlelo Hawai\u02bbi opera in the H\u014d\u02bbike series, which began in 2004.\u00a0 It will also be the first ever H\u014d\u02bbike to be produced outside the school venue.\u00a0 After touring various spots on the island, H\u0101\u02bbupu will have its European premiere in Edinburgh, Scotland at the annual Festival Fringe in August 2016<\/p>\n
