2019-20 Laptop Training and Rollout Schedule

Aloha mai kākou,

In preparation for the 2019-2020 school year, the portals for the Parent and Student Internet Safety and Device Training is now open.

Parent & Student Training

All parents & students are required to complete the Internet Safety and Device Training for the upcoming school year before students can pick up their assigned KS device.  Training is required on a yearly basis for both parent and student. Please complete the training in its entirety, ending with your online signature (to avoid a re-do, be sure to type your full legal name).  The training must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer.  You will not be able to complete this training module on your cellphone or tablet/ipad.  It is recommended that you have the latest version of your internet browser and the most current version of Flash installed before beginning the course.

Only one (1) parent/guardian is required to complete the parent training.  If you have more than one haumāna enrolled in KS Mauiʻs Elementary, Middle, or High School you only need to take the training once. However, each student attending KS Maui must complete the training.  High School students will not receive their KS Device until both parent and student has completed the required training.

Parents/Students who require assistance completing the training or need access to a computer may contact Francine Fujiwara, High School Technology Resource Coordinator, for assistance at (808)573-7218 or via email frfujiwa@ksbe.edu.

Managing your Apple ID???

  1. Go to myappleid.com.  Click on “manage my apple id”.
  2. Sign in.  If you are unable to get into your account you will probably need to request a password reset. An email from apple id will be sent to the email/rescue email you listed at the time you set up your account.  Be aware that if your account was set up in the middle school, chances are that your parent’s email will be the rescue email.  If this happens, you must reset your password through your parent’s email.  This means you will have to go home and sit with your parent.  Once this is done and you are apple to get into your account on “myappleid.com”, please do the following:
    1. Check to see that the only email listed is your school email address.  This is so that I can provide immediate assistance if you have trouble with your apple id during the school day.
    2. Review or re-answer your security questions.
  3. Remember to come and see me if you are having problems with connecting to the programs that require you to use your apple id.

Laptop Tips & Reminders

  • Always, Always, Always use your  KS issued carrying case when moving about the campus and when laptop is not being used.
  • Keep the plastic cover on the laptop at all times.
  • Always be aware of your laptop.
  • Never leave your laptop unattended.
  • Refrain from putting stickers/ink on the laptop or the plastic cover.
  • Use your laptop on a flat surface and in well ventilated areas.
  • Avoid using your laptop on a bed, carpet, fury chairs, etc.  Dust and debris will block the cooling vents.
  • Avoid leaving your laptop in a vehicle.
  • Charge your laptop every night before bringing it to school.
  • Back up your work on your personal external drive.
  • Keep food and drinks away from your laptop.  LIQUID DAMAGE OCCURS MORE OFTEN THAN WE’D LIKE AND IS VERY COSTLY.
  • If your laptop is in repair, check your email/text message daily for repaired completion notification.
  • Bring your issued carrying case with you when picking up a repaired laptop.
