{"id":567,"date":"2012-12-19T10:54:42","date_gmt":"2012-12-19T20:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/elhara\/?p=567"},"modified":"2012-12-19T11:16:02","modified_gmt":"2012-12-19T21:16:02","slug":"onolicious-lemonade-with-mrs-samura","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/elhara\/2012\/12\/19\/onolicious-lemonade-with-mrs-samura\/","title":{"rendered":"Onolicious Lemonade with Mrs. Samura"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.widgetserver.com\/syndication\/subscriber\/InsertWidget.js\"><\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\nif (WIDGETBOX) WIDGETBOX.renderWidget('60b97bc1-e02f-48bf-aff3-f9af3861bee5');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p><noscript><\/noscript>Last week Mrs. Pai&#8217;s fifth class was able to enjoy a lesson on how to make fresh lemonade with our recently retired eighth grade math teacher, Mrs. Merle Samura.\u00a0 I was so lucky to receive a phone call several months ago from Mrs. Samura, who was willing to share her lemons and lemonade recipe with us.\u00a0With the help of four of Mrs. Pai&#8217;s students, Kamakana, Cuinn, Jake N., and Makana, we were also able to turn it into a math lesson. The students learned about liquid measurement, fractions, and proportions.\u00a0 Mrs. Samura also shared with the students a wonderful and heartfelt story she had written initially for her own children.\u00a0 Click\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/elhara\/files\/2012\/12\/Lulus-Lemonade-Factory1.pdf\">here<\/a> to view her story.\u00a0 She talks about the process of harvesting, juicing, and the sharing of\u00a0the lemons.\u00a0 In fact, do you know that her tree has produced over 600 lemons this year!\u00a0 Amazing! So in the end the boys did a wonderful job with our lesson\u00a0and the students were able to enjoy a refreshing cup of lemonade.\u00a0 Many of the haumana asked, &#8220;When will Mrs. Samura be back?&#8221;\u00a0 Well, only time will tell&#8230;
