Virtual Communities for Educators

A virtual community is a social group of people who interact through online media and typically have mutual interests and/or goals.   They are used by a variety of social and professional groups and provide a venue for individuals to potentially network with others throughout the world.

In the field of education, there are many virtual communities that include not only tools for interacting but teaching resources as well.  These communities provide a venue for teachers to share teaching ideas and lessons, request feedback on lessons they implement and discuss current trends and challenges in education.

Here are some examples of Virtual Communities:

Classroom 2.0
Edutopia Blogs
Elementary Teacher’s Network
The Innovative Educator
PBS Teachers Connect
eSchool News
