I joined Edutopia Group; Classroom Management and posted a comment or advice to the question- Whatʻs the Best Classroom Management Advice Youʻve Gotten? I just posted it and donʻt know if it will be useful or not but I did notice and read some great advice, suggestions or strategies that others have used. So I guess it is helpful for me, hopefully my entry is useful to someone else. I think now that I know about this group I can ask them or search for strategies to classroom management questions I may have.
The experience was enlightening.
I joined Edutopia and was interested in the project-based learning. I think we should all do more project-based learning activities. Our keiki need to do more hands-on activities in order to engage and motivate them to want to learn more.
Now, I get new posts on project-based learning as they are posted. Great for me to see what others are thinking.
ArtSnacks is a positive learning community for learners of all ages..or should I say kids of all ages. It was voted first runner up in the 2010 Edublog Award for Best Use of Video. There are tons of videos on drawing skills. I read somewhere the original intent was to provide children that don’t get a chance to do art in school, an opportunity to still learn drawing. I joined and have a personal page, but I haven’t done much with it.
The site/community is huge. I actually have a hard time navigating because there is just so much to look at. There are lesson plans, opportunities to connect with teachers elsewhere, videos to watch. I can get caught up in it for hours. It is often quite confusing…different groups within this site have different focuses. Sometimes I have to join a specific group…like to share lesson plans.
The designer/originator of this site is named Kevin. He is amazingly creative, so many cool ideas. Check out the site…

…but more importantly check out the video that is emedded. I Need My Teacher To Learn 2.1. Cool song and images to match. Great one for Ellen to share at her next blogging class!

I chose to create a Shelfari account rather than join a PLC. My Shelfari and books that I added to it are posted on my blog.
