Teaching in a Global World
Organized in 2010 around the theme of water, and energy for 2011, the Student Global Leadership Institute builds on four decades of global studies at Punahou School. The Institute’s mission is to develop international youth leaders committed to common global challenges seeking to effect positive social change. Learn how an intensive on-site two-week summer program hosted at Punahou School with mentor teachers, and ensuing student-led projects engage communities and creates a cohort utilizing online networks. Take away useful and exciting activities, project design ideas and approaches.
Chai Reddy
Punahou School
Chai graduated with a BA in History from Lake Forest College (2001) and an MA Humanities/Classical Studies from John Carroll University (2006). He taught for one year in the Philadelphia area, four years in the Cleveland area, and is now in his sixth year at Punahou. He has taught Economics and a number of world history courses, served as Curriculum Resource Teacher to help teachers with curriculum and professional development, as well as an assistant coach to the varsity football team. This is his third year as the Coordinating Teacher of the Student Global Leadership Institute.
Wendi Kamiya
Punahou School
Wendi Kamiya is the chief information officer for Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is currently on the advisory board for the Education Research Initiative and on the planning team for the Punahou School Student Global Leadership Institute which brings students from around the world to form a cohort of future global leaders seeking to create positive social change. She also serves on the board of Kanu Hawaii, a non-profit group seeking to build a sustainable, self-resilient and compassionate community starting in Hawaii. Wendi holds a B.A. in Business Administration and M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii.
