All first graders had the opportunity to enjoy Water Play Day yesterday! It was so much fun slipping and sliding on the inflatable slides!

Reminders!!

May 17 – Na Koa Rewards Water Play Day
All qualifying students will participate in this fun activity in the afternoon. Bring swim suits, towels, and slippers in a bag to school that day.

May 18 – End of Year Convocation/Spring Concert
Keiki wear “dress whites” for convocation
Spring Concert – 6 pm
Keiki wear “dress up” clothes (flyer sent home) and report to classrooms by 5:30 p.m.

*May 21 – `Ohana Picnic Day at Onekahakaha Beach
8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Potluck lunch at noon – please bring a dish to share and drinks for you and your family.
Keiki may wear play clothes over swimsuits and slippers to school that day.

May 23 – Last Day of School!
Aloha Wear
Field Day, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. (bring play clothes and tennis shoes if necessary)

Fun in the Hilo District

First graders and `ohana enjoyed a huaka`i to Akaka Falls and Richardson’s Beach Park last Friday. We were blessed with a (mostly) rain free day! Uncle John met us at Akaka Falls to teach us about the native animals that inhabit the streams in our area. He also met us at Richardson’s and taught us about the importance of taking care of the ponds there. Aunty Terry spoke to us about the diverse sea life that can be found in our area. Keiki had an opportunity to hold and observe different types of coral and shells. We finished our day with a picnic lunch on the beach. Mahalo to all of the family members who joined us!!
