Speech Festival and 100 Day!

We were so proud of all the first graders who participated in our annual speech festival.  Each student memorized and performed a piece in front of his/her peers.  It was really fun to watch all of the keiki.  They all did a super job…were self-assured and well-prepared. Congratulations to our top two teams…Xander and Suliasi from 1B and Christian, Kylan and `Aipono from 1A who performed their pieces in front of the entire Kula Ha`aha`a in the Lunalilo Hale.

More excitement as we celebrated the 100th day of school.  The students enjoyed making (and eating) fruit loop necklaces (100 pieces, of course), seeing how many ways they could make 100 and worked with a partner to see how many words they could make out of the phrase “one hundred days.”

First grade will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12.  We will have a party in the rooms and children are welcome to bring valentines for their classmates.  Remember, there is no school on Monday, February 15, Presidents’ Day.

The first graders did a wonderful job with the speeches. They had some hard and long pieces to memorize. It was wonderful!
