The mission of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama High School’s Character Education Program, Ka Pūnāwai Ola, is to work together with students, staff, & families to:
- identify core ethical values that support the Hawaiian Values defined in the Strategic Plan II;
- model these values;
- help our students learn them;
- provide opportunities for students, staff and families, alike, to practice these values;
- encourage all members of the KHS community to work toward creating a vibrant Hawaiian community
We are grounded in the Core Ethical Values defined by the high school community. There are four basic components to the program:
- Grade level initiatives & co-curricular projects
- Integrated curriculum that supports & encourages the development of good character
- Service Learning
- Parent involvement
Efforts have been made to initiate action in all four areas. The most significant progress has been made in the implementation of grade level initiatives.
