David Kuraoka is from Kaua’i. He works in San Fransisco, but goes to his home in Kaua’i during the summer. David has a summer job which is working with clay. I can relate to David Kuraoka because we both like art. We both work with clay because we want to not because we have to.

David Kuraoka is an artist from Kaua’i, he works in San Fransisco University. But over the summer he comes back to Kaua’i to work with clay. What inspires him for his art work is the nature; rivers, trees, bark, basicly anything in the jungle. The personal connection I have with David Kuraoka is that he likes to work with clay, and so do I. Also that he likes what he does with his work its his hobby and its somethinig he wants to do, like me I do art for fun not because its easy but because I want too.

David Kuraoka is an artist that works with clay. He is inspired by many things like the wild life surrounding his home. But one thing that inspired them the most was the jungle. He works in the states but goes home to Kaua’i in the summer. He has a summer job working with clay and we are related in that way. We both work with clay. Even though I may not be good at it I still like to do it! There is another thing we are related by is the fact that we are both inspired by plants. I love to draw plants a lot.

David Kuraoka is an artist that works with clay. He lived in Kaua’i when he was a kid, then he got interested in art. His parents wanted hime to become a enigeer cause they make more money than an artist. David decide to follow his heart and became an artist. He now works at San Fransisco Universtity. In the summer he does a pottery, in Kaua’i which is were he get his insiration from. I guess David is sort of like me bacause I had a choice of going to Band or art. My parent wanted me to go into band but I really wanted to use the wheel so I chose art. :)

  5. Caley Saragosa Says:

David kuraoka is an artist. he works with clay on the wheel. He gets most of his insperation from nature on his home island of Kaua’i. The river, alge, rocks and everything in the forest inspires him. He does one of the hardest type of art (to me anyway). Which is pottery. To do potery u need a soft touch and amazing skill. Watching the video he makes it look easy. And he teaches all of his skills at San Fransico University. My connection to him is that we both love nature. When im in da forest or even in my yard. And all the quitness comes. It shows a whole different side of things. A side that has an infanate amount of art drawings or pictures.

Clay and that kind of stuff is a very difficult medium to work with. It takes dedication, perservirence(is that how you spell it?) and mostly, pacience(spelling?). A local artist from Kaua’i named David Kuraoka would know. He specializes in the art of clay and handbuilding. Kuraoka’s works are inspired by nature and the other things from the Hawai’i that he thinks is beautiful. He now teaches at San Francisco State Univercity.
I can’t really think of a connection I have to Mr. Kuraoka besides the fact that we are both from Hawai’i. I don’t really like nature or clay, although it’s one of my major goals this year to get good at it.(notice I didn’t start with “David Kuraoka is a…”)

  7. Duchess Rapoza Says:

David Kuraoka does beautiful clay pots. He is from the island of Kaua`i. He works in San Fransico but he comes home in the summer time. When he does his work he uses his senses to create his pots. For example he listens to the wheel. he feels the pot and how smooth it is, and he looks at how the pot is forming and how he wants the shape to be like. The connection I have with the artist is the I like nature like he does. Nature is where he gets his insperation from. He looks at the water in river and streams. I love nature expecially how it looks. Like the grass blowing in the wind, the waves from the ocean crashing into the rocks, the color of the flowers and the trees, the sun shinning on dew drops, rain, and best of all the clouds in the sky. I just want to walk around in my back yard surrounded by grass, trees and bushes and take pictures all day. Then I would probably try to draw some of the pictures or make it in some form of art. I am also really starting to like the wheel, and my mom told me that my dad was a pro at it.
