Biographical and Historical Note

Kamehameha School for Boys was a vocational and agricultural training program from its founding in 1887 to about 1934 when the Farm School at Haha’ione Valley was closed because of lack of enrollment. Competitions of all kinds were common including the Song Contest whose trophies are used annually and stored by Midkiff Learning Center. In 1966 when the Schools’ administrations merged, the Schools became co-educational. The trophies reflect this change. The Trophy Collection documents the excellence of Kamehameha School for Boys in competition for prizes in agriculture, athletics and other areas.
