Top Ten Lists Are Fun!!!
In the most recent Time magazine, there is a big section on top ten lists of 2008 from favorite tv series to remarkable discoveries. In fact, we see lists everywhere these days, and there’s no denying the fact that we all love them. Everybody from Moses (a la Ten Commandments) to MTV (Top 10 countdowns) do lists. People just love them.
Find a top ten list and share it with the class. Write the reason you picked this list.
Do you agree or disagree with the list?
Why do people love lists?

I found a top ten list of the unhealthiest foods in America because when I looked at the list I saw that most of the foods were foods that we eat almost every day. Such as ramen noodles which are number two on the list or hot dogs that is number one on the list. Or what about all those fattening cookies for snack. This means that we eat a lot of foods that are not healthy all the time.
I agree with this list because hot dogs are really unhealthy especially when you eat too much. Other unhealthy foods are 2. Ramen noodles 3. Mayonnaise4. Butter 5. chip6. Cookies 7. Ice cream 8.hamburgers 9. Stir fry 10. TV dinners
I think that people love lists because people like to categorize things and focus on different subjects. For example music is different from the cutest dogs. Lists can also help you make choices like which dog food should I use or what foods should I eat. People might also like lists because things like to do lists can tell you what you need to do today.

Top 10 Deadliest Animals
10 Poison Dart Frog
These pint sized frogs aren’t for kissing. Their backs ooze a slimy neurotoxin that is meant to keep predators away. Each frog produces enough of the toxin to kill 10 humans.
9 Cape Buffalo
When faced with a predator, cape buffaloes charge head on. That’s 1,500 pounds of beast topped off with two big, sharp horns. You’re lucky if there’s only one – the real danger comes when a herd of thousands stampedes in your direction.
8 Polar Bear
Sure they might look cuddly at the zoo, but in the wild they eat elephant seals for breakfast. Get between one and its cub and it could easily rip off your head with one swipe of its giant paw.
7 Elephant
Not every elephant is as friendly as Dumbo. Elephants kill more than 500 people a year worldwide. African elephants generally weigh in around 16,000 pounds – all the better to stomp you with – not to mention their sharp tusks.
6 Australian Saltwater Crocodile
Don’t mistake this croc for a log! It can lay still in the water, waiting for passers by. Then, in the blink of an eye, it’ll lunge at prey, pulling it under water to drown and dismember.
5 African Lion
Giant fangs? Check. Lightning quick? That too. Razor sharp claws? You betcha. Hungry? You better hope not. These big cats are near perfect hunters.
4 Great White Shark
Blood in the water can excite these sharks into a feeding frenzy, where they’ll use all 3,000 of their teeth to bite anything that moves.
3 Australian Box Jellyfish
Also known as the sea wasp, this salad-bowl sized jellyfish can have up to 60 tentacles each 15 feet long. Each tentacle has 5,000 stinging cells and enough toxin to kill 60 humans.
2 Asian Cobra
While the Asian Cobra doesn’t hold the title of most venomous snake, it does the most with what it has. Of the 50,000 deaths by snakebite a year, Asian Cobras are responsible for the largest chunk.
1 Mosquito
Most skeeter bites just make you itch. But some mosquitoes carry and transfer malaria causing parasites. As a result, these little pests are responsible for the deaths of more than two million people a year.
I agree with this list because according to livescience.com and purpleslinky.com these are the top 10 deadliest animals on the planet.
I think that people love lists because they are easy to read, funny, staight to the point, and people are organization freaks.
I chose this list because I like deadly animals. B)

Ten things to do to help the stop global warming. 1. Change a light (you can help by changing a fluorescent light bulb to a CFL and that will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year). 2. Drive less (instead of driving a car everywhere you can ride a bike or walk, for every mile you don’t drive then you are saving one pound of carbon dioxide from going into the atmosphere). 3. Recycle more (you will save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide). 4. Check your tires. 5. Use less hot water (It takes a lot of energy to heat the water). 6. Avoid products with a lot of packaging (if you cut down your garbage then it will save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide). 7. Adjust your your thermostat (if you adjust your thermostat then you will save 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide). 8. Plant a tree (if you plant a tree then it can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide in it’s lifetime). 9. Turn off electronic devices (this will save thousands of carbon dioxide from getting into the atmosphere). 10. Spread the word!
I picked this list because it can help us to save our world from getting destroyed. It can teach us how much carbon dioxide we are letting go into the atmosphere and how we can stop that from happening.
I agree with this list because it will tell us what we are doing to the world. It will help me to understand what we can do to help. This is a question I found on the top of the list it says “Want to do something to help global warming” well the list tells you exactly what we can do to help.
I think people like lists because they want to see what other people think about the topic. It will give other people the perspective of another person. It might even change your opinion.

I agree with this list because on the website it showed what the place had looked like at the time and it told about what happened to that place during the disaster and all of them were really bad from my perspective.
I think people like lists because it’s a good way to orginize information or data. I also think people like lists because they are fun to read and you get to see what other people think or what a majority of other people think of a topic. The top ten most dangerous places on Earth
South Africa
10) Russia
9) Brazil
7) Burundi
6) Antarctica
5) Afghanistan
4) Somalia
3) Sudan
2) Colombia
1) Iraq
For one I agree with the list because I have learned a little of everything about these countries. For example Sudan, in that country there is a place called Darfur and our class recently learned about it and in my opinion I think its terrible but no ones knows about it. Another place I have some knowledge about is Afghanistan.
The reason why I picked this list is because, I like to know what is going around and this is more like a global matter. It is good to know what happens around the glob so you stay informed.
I think people like lists because it is an easy, organized, simple, fun, and has facts. A list has different points of view, for example if a boy made a list of his favorite sports it would be different from a girls list of favorite sports.
