Thoughts on Global Warming
Arctic ice is melting sea levels are rising and glaciers are shrinking at alarming rates. And the Earth is getting unmistakably warmer. But is this vast potentially catastrophic climate change the result of human behavior? Or is it simply the Earth’s natural cycle of warming and cooling periods that have occurred since the planet formed?
What are your thoughts on global warming?

One day I was in the car with my friend and she said that there was a hole in the earth! I was so scared because I didn’t want to die, but she said if we stop polluting, maybe the hole will stop growing and get smaller!
When we watched the video about polluting, I saw a lot of things that could end our world, like pouring chemicals into the ocean which could kill all of our marine life. Also, we are overfishing so the fish that have babies don’t have anytime to lay their eggs. They just get caught. When our climate gets hotter because of global warming, the ice caps are going to melt and the sea level is going to rise. Our islands are going to get smaller. But one of the things I hate is that people are taking away our oxygen by cutting down our trees. If we don’t have any oxygen, then we can’t survive. If the ozone layer is gone because of our actions, then the radioactivity will come into our planet and we will not survive! If we don’t stop global warming now, it might be too late later!

We should stop polluting and start using less fossil fuels. If we don’t, the ozone will disappear and the radiation from space will eventually kill all living things.

I think that people should start using electric cars because cars are one of the main causes of global warming. If people would just try to cut down on using cars, the ozone layer will heal. It is good that the gas companies are raising gas prices because people are trying to save gas. I hope people are noticing how the world is changing and getting hotter. Scientists should start inventing ways to stop global warming. For example, it is good to use solar panels. People are going to regret when it is so hot in the world.

I agree with Kelsey. My thoughts about global warming are people should be more concerned about what is happening around us in the world. We have to realize that earth is getting more polluted by the factories, cars, litter, and many more things. As that happens, the ice in the Antarctica is becoming less. Many animals such as polar bears are losing their homes because of global warming. If the ice melts completely, the water might tip into another state or country. Recycling is another good way to help the ozone layer.

I feel that it’s very selfish of humans who ignore global warming because they only live for today. We are the future and we need a healthy habitat too. It’s not fair to the younger generation who will eventually suffer.

On Friday, I went to school thinking global warming was no big deal. Then, I left school with books and website names from the library. I never knew it was really that bad.
That day, we watched The Eleventh Hour. I think I finally came to my senses about global warming. In that movie, it talked about why it is happening, the human impact on it, and how we can help it.
To be honest, the only thing I really paid attention to was how we could help. We could stop using oil as much by catching the bus, walking if close by, or carpooling. We should recycle as much as possible: cans, aluminum, glass, newspaper, WHITE paper, cardboard, etc. We could even donate money to find a different solution instead of fossil fuels.
According to the movie, there are giant holes in the ozone layer above the north and south points. That is why the ice is melting. Soon, it’s ALL going to melt and water levels will be too high for mankind to live in.
I totally agree with Kelsey and Amylyn because if no one is concerned, the next generation will not have a nice place to live in. Someone needs to act now. We are the leaders of this generation!

I think that we are ones who are mostly causing the world to warm up because of all the pollution going on. We are killing natural resources that kept the world in balance and we are replacing them with buildings or skyscrapers. That just pollutes the earth more than it is. We should get the world’s attention and try to get everyone to stop polluting. Even though the ozone layer has holes in it, it can still repair itself but it can also reach a point where it will not repair itself. It will break and wipe out the human race. If we do not do anything fast, we will be wiped out.

If we don’t stop using fossil fuels, the Arctic ice is going melt and the ozone layer will be destroyed, and we will die . But if we stop polluting, it could heal itself very fast, but there is something called the tipping point when the ozone can’t fix itself anymore.

We should stop using fuels, gas, and stop polluting. We should stop knocking down trees and start growing more (save the trees, stop homework!!!). If every one recycles and starts to use hybrids, we would save our resources. If we cut down our use of our natural resources, our ozone will have time to repair itself and this crisis would not happen again.

Global warming will destroy our way of living by killing plants and animals which will reduce our oxygen and also reduce the Earth’s water supply making it harder to breathe and drink. To stop this from happening we must stop using fossil fuels, oil, pollution, and cutting down trees. If everyone right now would start using electric cars and use these three steps: recycle, reuse and reduce, we can prevent global warming from happening.

I hate how all the smoke from cars, factories, etc. ruin the air and causes sicknesses and health problems. It harms people and animals. There’s a way how people can use non-smoking electricity. There is a man who has a lot of cows which pollutes our land. The owner knows that so he uses a machine that turns the cows’ poop into electricity for his whole town and himself. Stores also use heat from the sun to provide electricity.

I do not like the smell of cars. It smells really awful. I learned how this guy used cow poop for electricity for his town, his family, and him. You could also use solar power for electricity. My grandma’s neighbors uses solar power. It is really expensive.

At first I thought that global warming was just the world getting warmer around us. I learned that global warming is really a big problem and in fact we could all die because of global warming.
This could happen by the increasing acceleration in climate change and soon, if we don’t change anything, with all of those huge oil companies releasing large amounts of gas, it will actually create a hole in the ozone layer that will bring in a lot of radiation from outer space. Humans will not be able to survive in this environment. It’s not only that but we are making it worse. For example, we all have a car to use to go to work or visit someone. We all know that this releases gas and hurts the ozone layer!

I think that America is being selfish because everyone just cares about themselves by polluting. America doesn’t even know that what they are doing is causing so much damage around the world.
It really makes me sad when I see the pictures of polar bears on T.V. because I know that their homes are melting away because of global warming, and just by myself, I can’t do anything about it.
America really needs to stop littering because it is causing a lot of damage all around the world. For example, in Africa, they are losing water and icecaps are melting. These are all examples of global warming.

Before, what I thought that global warming was nothing compared to what I learned with Mr. Chung. I thought that global warming was the world getting hotter in the summer and getting cooler in the winter. When I learned about global warming with Mr. Chung, I realized that global warming is caused by humans putting chemicals in the air which damages the ozone layer. This causes global warming. The ozone layer is the layer that cools the heat rays that comes from the sun. If the ozone layer has a hole in it, it’s not going to cool the rays. If the rays stay hot, the Earth is going to get hotter. It will never get cooler unless we stop polluting.
That’s a bad thing because in fifty years, scientists predict that Earth’s temperature will rise by a few degrees. That may seem not much, but that may cause the Artic Plate to melt a lot. When ice melts, the water level rises. When the Artic Plate melts, it will cause the water to rise so much that it will cover the Hawaiian Islands. All of that is caused by Earth’s temperature raised by just a few degrees.
Another thing related to global warming is, “The Tipping Point.” The Tipping Point is when the ozone layer has a hole so big, that it can’t repair itself. A nickname for that is, “The 11′th hour.” I can’t imagine what the earth would be like when most life on earth dies. I still think that Earth can repair itself because it has all the time in the universe.

We should stop using so much gas and oil that pollutes our earth and we should start helping our planet by recycling. We should also stop cutting down so much trees because when there aren’t any trees or plants left then their will be more carbon dioxide and less oxygen for us to breath.

I think that we should recycle paper and reuse the ink. Let’s not dump the ink in the water. You are doing something good when you turn old paper into new paper, but you are not helping the enviroment if you dump the ink out into the streams, oceans, ect. We should give the old ink to a company that uses or makes ink.
We also have to save the Amazon because that is where all of our clean air comes from and 60% of known animal species are. If the clean air goes out, we cannot breathe and carbon-dioxide wil speed up global warming.
We can use energy efficient things like solar pannels and electrical cars. If we all do this, our world will be greener.
Maybe space will have to wait because we have to save the Earth first. Of course we can live on the moon, but all that smoke and gases that coming out of the rocket when it goes up will not help global warming end, it will speed it up. If it speeds up, we cannot even study space because global warmng will kill us all first!
I hope people will wake up and see what is happening day by day. If we don’t now, it will be to late.

If we don’t stop global warming we will all die because the o-zone has a stage called a tipping point. Were not at the tipping point yet but we will be.Can you belivethat were killing the rain forest. The rain forests give off the most oxgen and take the most c20 which is a good thing because c2o is bad for us. And also were killing 10% know species of animals.

My thoughts on global warming is that if we continue to destroy our rainforest most of our speices will be gone and all the carbone dioxide will be in the air and that will speed up global warming more than ever. Also if we don’t find an alternative fuel all the ice in the world will melt and our O-zone layer will collapse ! ! ! After all of this has happend their won’t be much of an Earth anymore we will look like Mercury ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

If we don’t stop cutting down the rainforest, we will all die. If we cut the trees down, there will be not as much oxygen and there would be more co2 in the air, so it would speed up global warming. If we kill the rain forest, we are killing 10% of the species known to us. Also, I think that the cure for cancer is in the rain forest. I want them to find the cure for cancer because most of my relatives died of having cancer, and I don’t want any more of my family dying of cancer. We should stop using gas to run our cars and use electric cars. If we Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, our ozone layer would get better, and the earth would not be destroyed.

My thoughts on global warming is that if we don’t stop then we will die because the o-zone lair is like the out side shield of our earth and right now that lair has a hole in it because we do not take care of our earth when that lair reaches the tipping point witch means it can not repair itself naturally then we will not be able to live there any more.
We polute our oceans and cause animals to become extinct, we throw things away and do not care if we can use it in another way that is good for the enviorment. Sometimes we say that we care about our enviorment and we even by things that say we are recycled. Even if the label says it is recycled how did they recycle it did it take gallons and gallons of fuel or lots of energy to power the machine that made it in to something new? we must save the o-zone lair.

The results of global warming is the result of human activity because we are cutting down trees and polluting in the streams. We are destroying the earth really fast if we do not stop soon and figure out a cycle then it may be to late later. How I said figure out a cycle earlier, I mean when we are finished with T.V.s then we can figure out a way to reuse the parts and not to just throw away all the parts. There is a lot of chemicals in the computer to make the computer work so if we just throw it away then we might release these dangerous chemicals in the air. Also the Amazon rainforest is getting smaller each day because of deforestation. This is because the people are just burning down the trees for more land to keep their cows in and can use the wood to build things and can use it for paper and other things. They are doing this because they want to be more like the U.S.A throw away things that we really need. The U.S.A says that the Amazon rainforest is the earths lungs.
The earth getting warmer is not earths natural cycle because before the ice caps were frozen solid but now the ice caps are melting and polar bears are becoming fewer and fewer.
My thoughts of global warming is that if we continue to do these things, for example pollute the air and the seas which are killing the marine life. It already killed the pink dolphin, and that took about one million years for it to become alive. If we still keep on doing global warming then we are going to break our ozone layer which protects us from carbon dioxide. We have to stop now or it might be to late later.

At first, I did not care about global warming, so I did not help at all. But now I know about how bad global warming is and how we can all die because of it. I think the government should start taking more interest in global warming and make sure our country and other countries take care of the earth and try to stop global warming. I have a few comments about global warming.
1. There is already a hole in the ozone layer and the hole is only getting bigger. Pretty soon, it will reach its tipping point (the tipping point is when something will not be able to fix itself on its own, and so it will just keep dying until its gone), and then the radiation from outer space will destroy humans.
2. We are killing the rainforest. For example, the Amazon supports us with food, water, wood, and most importantly, oxygen. If we do not stop killing it, we will lose much of our natural resources.
3. We depend too much on fossil fuels. For example, gas, and oil. These fossil fuels destroy the earth.

Did you know that allmost everyone in California use to be using electric cars which doesn’t release any harmful fumes or gases and now someone has taken away all of them and hardly anyone uses it anymore for some reason. One thing that is a problem right now are the gas prices and you don’t use any gas with a electric car you just have to charge it over night and you’ll be fine, but still nobodies using it!!!

When someone farts I tell them that they are contributing to green house gases. This is basically true for all animals that pass gas. We use oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. Plants take the carbon dioxide out of the air and release oxygen into our atmosphere. Global warming is caused by the build up of greenhouse gases which is begins a series of reactions like a domino effect. The gases heat up our earth and contribute to the depletion of our ozone layer. This causes our glaciers to melt and sea levels to rise. It is a really scary thought to know that we as humans are causing this reaction to go and we are keeping it going when we can stop it.
I think we could stop or at least slow Global warming down if we as people were willing to change our lifestyles. Many countries are not willing to make the change because it would mean a loss of a lot of money for them and it is not convenient. So many people are living for today and not really thinking about tomorrow. If everyone would try just a little all around the world then it would be a start and maybe we could make a difference.

Capri, it’s not only America you know it’s other countries too. Although you may not care for America that much you really shouldn’t blame them because we basicly rely on thier restoraunts and technology and a lot of thier resources.Also when you say America you do relize that you are including the Hawaiian islands too. Right? I do recall us learning that Americans took over our country. So when you are saying America(americans) you are kind of speaking of us. But I do agree that we Americans/Hawaiians are being selfish and not considering what is happening around us.

I think that global warming has to stop and we can stop global warming by not using that much gas in cars because this is why thers a war in Iraq because they want more gas. It’s no oneder people call the United States selfish. America uses about forty percent of the world’s gas and the United States isn’t even that big compared to other countries.

CONTINUED: I always questioned why people think that America is selfish and now I know that we are pretty selfish in gas because America thinks that the U.S is the only country in the world that has cars. We’ll America we should stop right now and start helping the world and this is almost the whole reason of global warming and if we can stop it now we’ll still have time to save the planet!
