What is Technology?
Today, we went to the colonial exhibit. We saw and experienced many artifacts that made life easier for the early White Americans. Would you consider some of these items technology? What is technology? What do you think are the 2 most influential inventions in human history and why?

In early colonial times, they considered food heaters technology. That is a plate with a compartment on the bottom to put hot water in to keep the food warm.
Right now we consider high-tech digitals and computers technology.
I think electricity is one of the most influential inventions because without light, we would be depending on the sun for light. We still could use the sun, but without electricity, we wouldn’t be able to see in the dark at night.
Another influential invention is the telephone. Without it, we would still be writing letters which took a long time to deliver, or losing our voices to yelling in order to communicate with our friends.

In early colonial times, they considered pens, guns, and spinning wheels technology. Everyone knows what a gun or a pen is, so right now, I will explain what a spinning wheel is. A spinning wheel is something you made string with. The spinning wheel is controlled by your foot by pressing a peddle that makes it spin. The spinning wheel twists the wool or linen until it’s string.
I personally think that none of these things are technology. If I was living back in colonial tines, I could probably recognize these things as technology, but not right now.
I consider technology as things like computers, I-pods, TV’s and all things electrical. The people that lived in colonial times would freak if they saw the major technology we have right now.
I think the two most influential inventions were the light bulb and the air plane because without the light bulb we wouldn’t have light at night and without the air plane we would have to travel by train, car, foot, or ship to get to a place.

I think that the loom is considered technology because it makes fabric. Fabric is used to make clothes. I also think that the things by the fireplace (heat sheets, guns, and other things) are technology too!
I think that technology is something that humans use to entertain or make their lives easier.
I think the two most important technologies invented are the telephone and paper. Paper is used a lot in schools and businesses. A lot of people communicate a lot these days and the telephone is an easy and fast way to communicate with other people.

In the colonial times, what I consider technology was the water dish. When you put hot water in it and closed the dish, it kept food warm. I think they considered this technology because they didn’t really have a place to keep things warm or cold, they just ate it, however it was. When you have a water dish, you can keep it warm for a little while.
Another thing I would consider technology was the horn material. I think it is technology because you could melt it down from a spoon and then make it into something you need more. I consider that technology because when you need something and don’t have it, you can just take what you don’t need that’s made out of horn and melt it.
I think that technology are items to make life easier or more entertaining. I think humans don’t always use technology; sometimes it just works on its own. Technology is also something to prevent humans from dying. Some examples are the fire alarm. When it detects smoke, it alarms everyone to get out of the house or building. Also, we have the airbag. When you get in a car accident, the airbag shoots out and protects you from hitting the front or side. It’s just like a cushion.
I think one of the most influential inventions in human history was the electric car. I think it is useful because instead of riding a horse or bike, the car drives us place to place.
Another invention I think that is useful is the Internet. The internet is like a huge textbook including everyone’s ideas. You can also play games and use it as entertainment. You can also use it to contact other people instead of having to say it through the telephone.

I think the loom, the musket, and all of the cooking materials we say today are considered technology.
I think technology is anything that helps people in life or entertains people. It also can be used in good or bad ways.
I think one of the most influential inventions in human history is electric because it powers most of the things humans rely on like water pumps and lights.

I think that technology were the weaving machines we saw, the gun also know as a musket and the flint. Basically, technology is an invention help people in what they are doing. For example, if you had to start a fire you would use an invention like a pump to make fires bigger. I think the two most important invention are the computers because we wouldn’t be able to get messages around faster, and the stove because we a place to cook on. We would have to cook over a regular fire with no place to put the pan.
Even though they were the colonists were trying to build good lives, they took over the Native Americans. They only thought of themselves.

Technology is pretty much an invention that helps you survive.
I think the most important invention is the wheel. The reason I chose the wheel is from long ago till this day, we have used the wheel for transportation and it has worked out pretty well the past couple thousand years. The second most important invention is probably the invention of running water. This is important because we need water to live.

I would consider all of the things that early White Americans considered technology as technology. I would think the same as them because the things they used were new and fascinating to them just like touch screens and i-pods are to us.
I belive that technology is anything that can help or entertain you in life, from pens and pencils to touch screens and television. These are all things that can make your life easier.
I think the two most influential inventions in human history are easily the internet and the T.V. I’ve picked theese 2 objects because with the internet and television, people can easily get information to most people, which is very important for things like knowing who to vote for.

I believe that most of the things we saw today was technology because it might not have been electrical or fun, but it made life easier. That was the whole point of inventing new things, to see if it helped the world.
Technology is something that makes life easier, like how the invention of the light bulb was helpful because it allowed people to have light without having to keep a fire going all day and night.
I personally believe that the light bulb and electricity are the two most important types of technology in human history because without these inventions we wouldn’t have a whole lot of things such as the computer, the television, video games, and light.

Yes, I would qualify some of these items as technology because these tools made made part of their lives in colonial times easier.
Technology are inventions that make someone’s life easier, like cars which made it easier to travel on land.
I think the two most influential inventions in human history is the internet and the television. The internet was important because it gave people a better an easier way to find information, to look up news, and contact friends. The television was important because the television gave people graphics, color, and the news.

I do consider most of these things technology because they made life a lot easier for the colonialists. Since the colonialists didn’t have very many resources, they made some very good inventions out of the resources that they did had.
I think that the knitty knotty is considered technology because the Colonialists needed to measure how much wool was needed to become a certain length of linen, wool, or flax thread. I also think that using animal horns in many different ways was inventive. Some of the uses are to make cups or spoons.
I think that the food warmer that holds the hot water on the inside so the food stays warm on the dish was cool. I think that the loom is considered technology because after they soaked the flax in water and brushed it out, all they had to do was put it in the loom and they could make almost anything out of the fabric.

I think the loom and spinning wheel were technology. The loom was technology because it could make cloth that you could use for clothes. The spinning wheel was technology because it could make string. Another thing that I consider technology is the gun because with a gun you could protect yourself and you could get food.
What I think is technology is something that makes a job more efficient to do. For example, the car which lets us get around faster so we can do our jobs easier.
The two most influential inventions are the battery and the computer. The battery because it’s a portable device that gives things power to do what they are meant to do. The computer is an influential invention because it lets you chat to people across the world. You can buy stuff on it and you can see outer space. Before it was super hard to find something. You had to first go to a library, then you would have to find the book, and then look up the information. Now if you want to look for something, you go to Google and type in what you want to look up, and it gives you thousands of choices so you can see things in different perspectives.

I think technology is something that makes life easier. For example, in 1945, the ballpoint pen was invented. To us now, it’s not really important, but back then it was really useful. In colonial times, the feather pen was really hard to use because people had to keep dipping it in ink and it would dry out.
One invention that helps us today is the car. Before Karl Benz invented the car in 1887, people had to walk, use horses, trains, and bicycles. But then, the car was invented to help people get around (website*). The people then had to build roads. Pretty soon there were roads that went to other towns. The people in one town could meet other people in other towns. Nowadays we can go to visit other people with our cars and roads.

I would consider all the things we saw in the colonial exhibit technology because I think that technology is any thing that helps make tasks easier. Like the loom, it helped the Americans sew so it was technology to them. I think that the two most influential inventions are the light bulb and electricity because without electricity, you can’t power a light bulb, a T.V. or a computer. In fact, you cannot power almost any technology we have today.

I would consider the items technology if those items helped their lives become easier. It helped them in what they did. The spinning wheel was technology because it was very useful, and even though we don’t use it today, I think it would be something very useful to us.
To me, technology is something that is very useful to that time. It is also something that helps you everyday. It doesn’t have to be connected to electricity because back then electricity was not invented.
Today we consider computers and TVs technology because they help make life easier. With the computer, we can look up information and it can help us do our homework. With the TVs, it also can help us know what is happening in the world (on the news channel). One more thing that is useful is electricity. Electricity is something that can help us see in the dark and see where we are going. Technology is a very useful thing. If we could find something to use the sun’s energy, that would be awesome technology.

I would consider many items technology because it helped make life in colonial times easier and it helped them get their jobs done faster. The machine that made thread was technology because it helped make thread to make clothes and rugs.
Today our technology are things like computers, TV, and electronics. The computer is technology because it helps you look up information, type up your homework, and helps you find websites. The TV is technology because it can tell you about the news, and you can watch shows on it.
Technology is something that helps make life easier.

Technology is a thing that is invented to make life easier for people. Technology lets us do things faster and more efficiently. It can also make life more fun and entertaining.
Some of the artifacts we saw at the Academy of Arts that I thought were examples of early technology were quills, muskets, nails, flint stones, the loom, spinning wheel, corn grinder, mortar & pestle, and the fireplace. I had to think about these things as technology because we are spoiled and so much more advanced. The artifacts we saw seem so simple compared to what we can do now.
I think that the most influential inventions throughout history were planes and the nuclear bombs. The discovery of flight makes going places easier, faster and more comfortable. It changed the way we traveled. The invention of the nuclear bomb gave us the ability to have control and world power.

I think that technology is all about perspective and also how you use it. One thing is that technology really makes life easier. For example, the cavemen invented the wheel so that we could move from place to place much easier, but like I said it all depends how you use it. If you put the wheels under a cart in order to make it move, then you are using it in the more efficient way, but if you put it on the wrong way so that it cannot roll around, then it would not be technology because it doesn’t work.

I do think most of the things we saw today made technology because for the Colonialist it made life much easier for them. Some of the things that they had I thought were impossible to even invent. But it was amazing that out of the resources they had, they made really useful items.
I think technology is basically something that helps mankind, like a stove that was generated by only fire and not electricity. This made life easier in colonial times. It was against the law to work on Sundays so the mothers had to make the food on the day before and put it in the heater until the next day so they would have food to eat.
I think the to most influential invention in human history is the phone. It is better than letters which take a longer period of time.

I would consider some of the items technology because it made life easier for most colonialists. With tools and other items, they could do their work faster.
I think that technology is something that makes time go faster and makes things easier for people. In colonial times, it was against the law to do a specific kind of work on Sunday, which meant that the moms had to have their food prepared for them on Saturday and store it in an oven near the fireplace.
I think the two most influential inventions were electricity and phones because most things that are useful run on electricity like this computer that I’m writing on. I also think the phone because it’s easy to get messages across to other people.

I would consider many items I saw on my field trip technology because they made life easier for the people who were using it, and it helped them work faster because they had those inventions.
I think technology is something that makes life easier and faster like the car. It would take you a couple of months to travel from one country to another back then, but now it would take us maybe a couple of days.
I think the most influential inventions were the phone and the computer because the phone would give us a way to communicate rather than having a town crier or mailman take your letters back and forth. The computer is a good invention because if we need to find information on any subject, we can just go on the internet and type it in, instead of going all the way to the library and check if they had a book on the information. If they didn’t, you would be in big trouble.

Technology is something that helps us so our life can be easier. For example, computers! We humans use computers to find information! I would consider almost any thing technology. We see it everywhere. At home, at school, and in town, EVERYWHERE! When phones were invented, everybody was so excited and happy because before the phones were invented, they had to sent telegrams or they would have to go to that person themselves and tell that person what they had to say.
