Three important philosophers taught in Athens were Socrates, Plato and Aristole. Plato and Aristole were students of Socrates. Socrates eagerly discussed wisdom and goodness with the people of Athens; he asked questions and challenged people’s beliefs. Socrates was brought to trial in 399 B.C. The authorities accused him of misleading young people and dishonoring the gods. He was sentenced to death by suicide. Socrates death caused Plato to mistrust democracy and he wrote the Republic which questioned Democracy. Plato founded his own school, the Academy, in 385 B.C. Aristotle represents for most of us an icon of difficult or abstruse philosophical thinking; to know Aristotle often provokes hushed whispers even from highly educated people. For all this reputation, though, Aristotle is actually quite an easy read, for the man thought with an incredible clarity and wrote with a superhuman precision. It really is not possible to talk about Western culture (or modern, global culture) without coming to terms with this often difficult and often inspiring philosopher who didn’t get along with his famous teacher, Plato, and, in fact, didn’t get along with just about everybody (no-one likes a know-it-all). We can say without exaggeration that we live in an Aristotelean world; wherever you see modern, Western science dominating a culture in any meaningful way (which is just about everywhere), Aristotle is there in some form.
Aristotle was born at Stagira, in Thrace, in 384 B.C. His father was a physician to the king of Macedon, so science was in his background. At the age of seventeen, he went to Athens and joined Plato’s school, where he stayed until Plato’s death in 347
The impact of this all is that by these three philosophers now we don’t believe gods control nature we believe in democracy and we believe that we control ourselves and gods don’t have anything to do with it.

Three important philoshophers were Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Socrates was a man who asked questions to get a better understanding on things. He questioned how things worked. But because of his different beliefs, he was put to death. Plato was a student of Socrates who began to mistrust democracy after the death of Socrates. He wrote a book “The Republic” which is about how he thought a society should be organized. Aristotle was a student of Plato who believed that knowledge should be gained by reason and logic. He then founded his own school called “The Academy”. Each one of these people were important because they changed the way that people looked at things. They showed people that there were more things to creation then just the Gods. Even to this day, people still practice philosophy.

1. The golden age of Greece was a time in Athens when art, democracy and theater flourished. Every thing was run smoothly and many of the buildings of the time are still standing that means the arcutecture at the time was well thought out. I think that we still study these things today because it has been a role model for how we should run our nation. We use democracy in our country and I think it’s important that its the peoples vote. We still like to watch dramas and comedies and its a great way of intertainment.

The three important philosophers are Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle!
The impact is that it makes the Greeks to think from another prospective in their view so they can understand!
a. Socrates used questions to get/have a bvetter understanding of something so that’s why he always questioned. When people would come to him for answers he questioned there question so Socrates and the Greek can understand way more better and then will finally figure out there answer. Socrates are being forced to die b/c of his beliefs because the Greeks were unconfortable with his beliefs.
b. Plato is a student of Sacrotes which means he kind of is continuing his beliefs of what he did before he got forced to die! Plato wrote a Republic which was a model for how society should be organized.
c. Aristotle was a student of Plato which also means that he was continuing Plato beliefs before he died. Found his own school which was the first of all three. Believed thatb trying to get knowledge was because of reason.
